“I have worked with Mike for years! I take his cookies to my granddaughter in Portland Oregon several times a year! The frosted sugar cookies are our favorite! I get her purple frosted flower shaped cookies because her name is Violet! Mike has made me frosted cookies in the shape of high heels, bridesmaid dresses and wedding cakes! Obviously making fabulous cookies is his super power!!! I'm so happy we have The Cookie Shoppe in Chico!“

“We picked up my son's cake today. I would say this is not a $61 cake. The decore is simply an image on rice paper with poorly done fondant border. I will not be purchasing from here again. plus there was a hair.“

“I really like their food and eat there about once a week, BUT the service can really be hit or miss. I had a particularly frustrating experience this morning when I was the only one in the shop, waiting for a salad I'd ordered ahead online. I checked in when I arrived, said I was here for the salad and ordered something else while I waited. I got the second thing I ordered, but then I just sat and waited for twenty minutes before finally checking in again and asking when they thought the salad would be ready. Turns out they'd finished it and put it on the shelf without telling me. I mentioned I'd been sitting there waiting for a while and they didn't say anything. I would have at least appreciated an apology or an explanation about a miscommunication or something. I understand that things get busy, and stuff falls through the cracks, but when you have three staff, and one customer, this kind of stuff should not be happening. This was at the Forest location, but I've had similar experiences at Mangrove and Esplanade as well.“

“First and foremost the lady working there was so sweet! Very easy to talk to as well. I got a classic cinnamon roll with oreo bits on it; it was fresh out of the oven and it was delicious! I always get an extra cup of frosting with it. I also got a "chillata", once again, absolutely loved that too. :)“

“Their salsas are excellent! And I like the cheese and crema. They do cook up some really good chicharones on the weekends. Their pastry is good but only if you buy it within 24 hours of it being made. I don't know which day it is made and brought into the store but 7 out of 10 times that I buy the pastry when I get home it's stale tasting, no matter how beautiful and plentiful they looked on the shelf. The staff is always friendly and helpful. When I go in I never find dust or dirt on my canned goods and the store is kept clean. I would love to see them do some kind of bright pop of color on the walls and some other type of update to their decor. It would make it a more fun shopping experience

Wheelchair accessibility: I think it would be difficult to get a wheelchair through this store. The aisles are crowded with stuff hanging off the end caps. And the end aisles are narrow also. The door does not automatically open and they would definitely need assistance. If they can get assisted inside with their wheelchair, they may find the staff can help them shop for what they need while they stay at the front of the store.“

But I’m here to say that it’s the atmosphere of the place that makes it a favorite. I met a friend here this morning. A great time that was made all the more special by our engaging with other patrons on the patio. What was it that made us quickly connect and start sharing from the heart? I can’t name it! I had to open one box to double check the order so they even let me keep that box free. Their cakes are delicious and they have a large variety to choose from. Even better than the cake though is their friendliness and customer care. I will always shop here!“
