Tugboat Fish & Chips Reviews
I was excited to try this fish and chips establishment after the good reviews; however we don't think we will be back. We ordered the one piece fish and chips with scallops and one with the oysters. The fish was very tasty but the portion was so thin and small, the scallops were the bay scallops size, postage stamp size. I would think we such small portions of the fish, perhaps the chips would be more plentiful, not the case. We unfortunately will not go back however the wee...read full review
I have passed by this place many times. It had only 1 customer at noon. Surprising. I'm used to fish being fried when you order it, but it was clear that it was fried twice. Soaked in oil , maybe old oil. I thought I would have to wait 10 to 15 minutes. Within 1 minute my order was ready. No seasoning at all. Sauce was average. Tugboat Fish & Chips offers a delightful dining experience with its freshly prepared seafood dishes. The fish and chips are praised for their crispy, non-greasy batter and exceptional flavor, consistent with many reviews praising the tasty fish and well-cooked oysters. The restaurant also serves delectable crabcakes, hush puppies, and onion rings, all made with care. The tartar sauce is a standout, with a homemade taste, though some customers noted that onion powder in the tartar sauce can affect the flavor. The portions on the 3-piece fish are generous, even if slightly greasy, and the menu is simple but clear, offering good value for the money. The decor is old and somewhat battered, and seating may be tight, but the atmosphere remains quiet and clean. Despite occasional mixed reviews about the taste and fries, Tugboat Fish & Chips continues to be a good place for fish and chips.
