“So I live in Compton, only a few blocks from the birra spot. I'll be honest, I did not like birria de chivo but I came here for Father's Day because my dad who lives in L.A. wanted to try it. Long story short I had no clue what to order. Gentleman at the window was soo helpful and patient in helping me, the señoras are cooking in the truck so we knew it was going to be good. Anyway my dad loved it, and I tried it and I really enjoyed it. Just be careful with parking the lot they are by was full and and I parked on a side street and I totally missed the sign and got a big fat ticket. ??“

“The fact that we felt transported in time with the vibe alone is 5 stars. I got treated to a perfect chilaquiles en mole covered with sunny side up eggs. Side of refried beans and white rice sprinkled with cotija cheese. One word. Phenomenal. Add a chia lemonade, and I'd say I had the perfect breakfast. Second dish was a pozole with a side of pata had to order a second pata it was so good and tender. Radio Joya in the background playing, definitely took us Mexico City in what felt a 70s era. “The taco 5y10 is what you come here for. It’s delicious! The freshly handmade yellow corn tortilla is delicious and soft. I got the taco de cabeza which is would highly recommend. The fattiness of the cabeza complements the black bean filling of the taco, both in flavor and texture. My fiancé ordered the taco de al pastor which was also good but we both agreed the cabeza was better. One taco 5y10 is bigger than any burrito, so one is more than enough. They cut the taco in half so that it fits in the styrofoam box, so if you’re interested in trying different meats, brining a friend, each other a different meat and swap halves. Also, the agua de horchata is delicious! Definitely homemade, not from a packet.“

“I found this new BBQ pop-up in Lakewood at the YMCA and I can’t say enough good things about it. From the kindness of the family that runs it, to the delicious food. Last week I had the 3 meat plate (I chose brisket, pork belly and chicken) which came with 2 sides and it was only $28! The brisket and pork belly were SO tender and juicy and had an amazing flavor! Earlier today I had the one meat plate with chicken, this coleslaw that is probably the best I’ve ever tasted, and their brisket chow mein. So good! Everything is homemade down to the sauces and they have things like burritos and Texas toast brisket grilled cheese. It’s called Axiom Kitchen. Husband, wife and kids and so kind…they made us feel so special. We haven’t had service like that in a long time. I know they are at the Lakewood YMCA on Sundays and I think Fridays and they are at another location on Thursday but I’m not sure where.“

“Amazing food! I ordered an al pastor burrito and four asada tacos, and every bite was completely worth it. The burrito alone was massive check out my photo where it’s practically the size of a Nissan N300 rearview mirror (weird comparison but that's whats in the photo) Flavor-wise, everything was spot on: bold, authentic, and satisfying.

What really made the experience, though, was the atmosphere and the people. Everyone was so kind and respectful. The cook had me add my own salsa and onions outside before handing it back to him to wrap up, which made it feel even more personal. The cashier was just as great she even had samples ready of the drinks before deciding which one to buy.
