Located in Costa Mesa, Kakurega is a hidden gem for fresh sushi and a top-tier experience. The food is top-tier, with the three kings being delicious and the crispy rice appetizer absolutely delicious, though the rice was a bit thick. The soft shell roll was alright, but the nigiri had fresh fish with a good rice to fish ratio. The salmon skin salad stood out, beautifully presented with delicate daikon radish sprouts and perfectly cut slivers of crispy salmon skin. The Omakase was amazing and has probably ruined all other sushi experiences. The service is amazing, with attentive and astute staff. The atmosphere is intimate and stylish, with exquisite music, making it perfect for a date night, family occasion, or business. There is plenty of parking available. The overall experience is pleasant, and the restaurant never disappoints. It is a simple and good spot with great secret menu options. Kakurega is a must-visit for fresh sushi, great customer service, and a relaxed vibe.
