“This place is by FAR the BEST subs I have had. I first tried them back in like 2000/01 at there old location in Azuza. I live out by San Bernardino and drive here just for a sub that's how good they are. Bacon, avocado, turkey the best in my opinion. Hope they continue their legacy for years to come. “My wife and I eat at The Hat when we want a treat. She loves the pastrami sandwich and I usually get a burger of some kind. The only thing that is certain is we get an order of chili fries, which is HUGE! We never finish the entire order but it is tasty to try every time. The only caution I have is this place can get packed around lunch and dinner so plan accordingly. We have eaten in our car many times because of the crowd.“

“The Hat has been on my list since I moved to SoCal. Today I finally had the opportunity to try it and it did not disappoint!
The bread was soft and the pastrami was excellent! Just a hint of smoke and super tender and juicy. The onion rings and fries were good ....and you get a TON!
We finished off with an Orange Bang - which took us straight to our childhood.

“I had the New Yorker Hot sandwich on sourdough while I was there. It came with a pickle spear and peppercinni, and they had the perfect freshness, crunch, and sour to accompany the savory sandwich. The New Yorker is a simple sandwich, and honestly, a good sandwich doesn't need the most exotic ingredients anyway. Sure, I could have made a sandwich at home, but did I? No. Also, I don't have the patience to do anything more than slap some cold cuts and mayo on cold bread. So let me tell you, you can tell that this place cares about their quality of sandwiches if I'm willing to be lazier than making a sandwich at home just so I can eat one while I'm here.“

On my latest visit, I tried the breakfast omelette sandwich, featuring egg, tomato, bacon, and cheese on toasted bread, which turned out to be the best sandwich I've had in ages. She has an amazing hand in detailing the piñatas and has earned a loyal customer. “Very neat and tidy store. As a regular on Thursday evenings Maria and Martha always make my sandwiches perfectly with smiles on their faces and always ask me about my day. There are closer subways to where I live and work but it’s worth the literal extra mile to drive to this one.“

“The service is slow but the food is good. I wish they would offer a large and small breakfast potatoes. The small isn't enough so I order 2 and pay $8. A large at $5 or $6 would be nice. Also, the amount of syrup they give you for 4 pancakes is ridiculous. They need to offer 1 ramekin of syrup for every 2 pancakes. Despite these irritating issues, we will always come back.“

“Charleys is located in the Food Court of Plaza West Covina. I ordered here as haven’t had their Philly cheesesteak in such a long time. Service was perfunctory but efficient. It’s a walk up kiosk to place order and pick up. There are many tables and chairs for dine in, but the place gets packed on the weekends. The high ceiling and glass windows lend brightness to the area.

The original cheesesteak was delicious, I prefer the bread to be more toasted. The fries were nicely crisp on the outside and soft inside. I don’t go to the mall that often but I’d definitely visit Charley’s again when I do.“

No way I could do that to this beautiful medium of yumminess. I went to their sauce bar and added a punch of flavor and finished this bad boy immediately. Only docked one star off of service because the front lady wasn’t very friendly and didn’t seem to want to answer our questions. Oh well, I came for the foooood.“
