The Junket - what an institution and survived the Great El Cerrito remodel of 2002. I never really came here in high school or later in adult life living nearby. But brought my parents here for lunch recently. They have a "Make your own sandwich" board at the deli counter. Everyone got their sandwiches and my Dad got to try one of their beers on tap. This place is just very odd. But not in a bad way. Decent sandwiches at decent prices using pretty good meats and cheeses. There's a good beer selection and plenty of seating. Seems pretty popular with an older crowd. Anyways, I had the cajun turkey sandwich but I'm going to go with the headcheese next time. I like that they promote headcheese. I grew up eating it and do enjoy it in moderation.

I've been going here like most people my whole life. Wonderful owners who I've missed during the pandemic, and a nice selection of items. The carrot salad, sadly, had departed. "We don't have it today" means actually never.
