“Pressed Freeze has been my healthy alternative to ice cream ever since I got cut from the Varsity basketball team my junior year of high school and started watching what I put in my beautiful meatsuit. Turns out a diet of hot dogs, french fries, and vanilla ice cream was not very conducive to being an elite level athlete...... but I did still have some wiggle if we are being honest… I was like a Mexican Raymond Felton out there.I have been coming to this location for years after a meal at True Food, North Italia, Mendo, or Little Sister as it is a small stand in the middle of the Point.Yesterday, we came after going to Tocaya and I have never needed a palate cleanser more in my life. Idk what happened to Tocaya but they really fell off. They had such a crazy run from like 2016-2018 and then just lost their soul. Idk how else to explain it. Like a bubble TJ Warren.My order is always a large vanilla in a cup with strawberries, blueberries, sliced almonds, and the almond butter drizzle. The almond butter drizzle will actually change your life, let me inspire you.I honestly don't know if the Pressed Freezes are actually healthy though, I've never done the research. They are always suspiciously delicious. In my head, they just run their vanilla juice through a little soft serve machine and maybe add ice, possibly a little natural sweetner?At this point, ignorance is bliss. “A bit off the beaten path, but delicious acai bowls are available here. I had the chocolate dream (which comes with chocolate chips!) while my friend had the makai bowl. You pick between a regular or large size. We came here after eating sushi for lunch so we were a bit peckish, but eating the regular size brought us over the edge. There were some indoor tables available and a lot more outdoor seating. The outdoor seating was super pleasant and there was a fountain that added to a soothing environment. Free parking. Credit cards accepted. They have smoothies available as well.“

The baristas are ALL good at what they do so I can always expect a Vanilla Latte to perfection. Their pastries are so delicious, super dog friendly. Their overall aesthetic is clean and modern. Parking is super easy at the El Segundo location. I highly recommend Offset to anyone near LAX or in the El Segundo area. The food was flavorful. My friend ordered the namesake quesadillas, and I ordered the jackfruit tacos with mango salsa. Double the flavor - we shared our meals. Yum! The portions were large, filling, and pleased my soul. What I thought to be a side of mashed sweet potatoes was warm, smooth mashed beans. Tacos and quesadillas on point. -I found out about this place while exploring the neighborhood & noticed a lot of people popping in/out.

“Sooo…when I want to avoid fast food…Kathy’s Kitchen is my go-to spot for healthy food, fresh juice, grocery items, and healthy-ish snacks!

She has a smaller menu but, she has a couple menu items I really enjoy. I grab her to-go/pre-made meals like the jerk chicken and Jamaican meat patties (the Veggie patty is yummy too).

My elderly father loves getting her pre-made spaghetti. Fyi…the sauce is freekin’ good! He also always orders a peanut butter sandwich to-go. He could make it himself, but he says, “Don’t you see I’m retired?”

My absolute favorite is when she occasionally offers new items she is putting together like these Stuffed Mushroom Tacos and the various bowls.

So, the thing is…Kathy is super knowledgeable. She has a phenomenal understanding of food and health. She brings in seasonal produce and you can grab some basic fruits and veggies while you’re there (Avocados…yesss). A few weeks back, she had the best strawberries and peaches I had tasted in a long time.

She also has fresh squeezed juices and things like turmeric shots. So, it motivates me to stay focused on making better food choices to complement my exercise routine and health needs. It’s a more quaint place that kinda keeps me focused on eating the basics. I’m putting more fruits and veggies in my body daily than I have in a while.

Oh…lately, she has pre-cooked greens in her grocery fridge pretty often! It is sooooo nice to be able to eat good-tasting greens whenever I want.

I got some plantain with my bowl today and that’s gonna be my dessert.

Overall, Kathy’s Kitchen is an experience!
My whole family loves stopping by to pick stuff up and see what’s available that week.

It’s not really about having a gazillion processed options. Going there has made me more intentional about eating healthy. I also like supporting a small business in the way I’d want to be supported if I had one.
