“A bit off the beaten path, but delicious acai bowls are available here. I had the chocolate dream (which comes with chocolate chips!) while my friend had the makai bowl. You pick between a regular or large size. We came here after eating sushi for lunch so we were a bit peckish, but eating the regular size brought us over the edge. There were some indoor tables available and a lot more outdoor seating. The outdoor seating was super pleasant and there was a fountain that added to a soothing environment. Free parking. Credit cards accepted. They have smoothies available as well.“

“Holy crap. I’ve been trying to find an excellent protein shake place with supplement add-one like creatine, meal replacements, fat burner, etc. and this place HAS IT. It’s so hard finding a good protein shake place that makes it right and this place ABSOLUTELY KILLS the protein shakes. I got the Cinnamon Toast with Fat Burner and Creatine, but I’m trying the peanut butter pistachio next time. It’s a bit of a drive for me since I’m based in LA but I think it’s so worth it. I ordered the Greek Coffee (coffee, figs, dates, cardamom, cacao, banana and almond milk) and would give it an 8/10. The flavors could be better balanced to let the almond and banana shine more than the dates.

Prices are definitely steep but the portions are generous. I could’ve easily split my $15 shake with someone else.“

“I bought a fruit cup at the Earth Bar in LAX because the fruit looked like there was a possibility that every piece might actually be ripe. I was pleasantly surprised to discover every piece was indeed ripe-kiwi, mango, pineapiple, and grapes. This is a first for me in mass-marketed fruit cups.“

“Sooo…when I want to avoid fast food…Kathy’s Kitchen is my go-to spot for healthy food, fresh juice, grocery items, and healthy-ish snacks!

She has a smaller menu but, she has a couple menu items I really enjoy. I grab her to-go/pre-made meals like the jerk chicken and Jamaican meat patties (the Veggie patty is yummy too).

My elderly father loves getting her pre-made spaghetti. Fyi…the sauce is freekin’ good! He also always orders a peanut butter sandwich to-go. He could make it himself, but he says, “Don’t you see I’m retired?”

My absolute favorite is when she occasionally offers new items she is putting together like these Stuffed Mushroom Tacos and the various bowls.

So, the thing is…Kathy is super knowledgeable. She has a phenomenal understanding of food and health. She brings in seasonal produce and you can grab some basic fruits and veggies while you’re there (Avocados…yesss). A few weeks back, she had the best strawberries and peaches I had tasted in a long time.

She also has fresh squeezed juices and things like turmeric shots. So, it motivates me to stay focused on making better food choices to complement my exercise routine and health needs. It’s a more quaint place that kinda keeps me focused on eating the basics. I’m putting more fruits and veggies in my body daily than I have in a while.

Oh…lately, she has pre-cooked greens in her grocery fridge pretty often! It is sooooo nice to be able to eat good-tasting greens whenever I want.

I got some plantain with my bowl today and that’s gonna be my dessert.

Overall, Kathy’s Kitchen is an experience!
My whole family loves stopping by to pick stuff up and see what’s available that week.

It’s not really about having a gazillion processed options. Going there has made me more intentional about eating healthy. I also like supporting a small business in the way I’d want to be supported if I had one.

For me, it’s being able to go in and have people who care about what I’m putting into my body as much as I do.“
