Not sure if no AC is their thing or what, but they clearly had power when we dined there. We couldn’t enjoy our meal due to how suffocatingly hot the dining room was.That aside, the food was absolutely wonderful. But we are hesitant to return since our dining experience was truly the most uncomfortable one either of us has ever experienced. We just wanted to eat and leave as quickly as possible. But maybe that’s the point?Parking: You may have to walk a bit. Parking lot is plentiful, but close-up parking isn’t typical.“
“My third or fourth visit to Hawks. I've never been disappointed, and tonight was a memorable experience. Party of four for early dinner. The mushroom soup amuse bouche was wonderful. White Fog Farm lettuce salad was (reportedly) excellent. The Caesar salad was tasty but the creamy dressing revealed it as an imitation Caesar (in my opinion); the saving grace was the white anchovy on top. (I am a Caesar salad purist and I am frequently unimpressed; woe is me.). Entrées: Duck--excellent! Short ribs--excellent! Steelhead--excellent! Lamb loin--excellent and more! Wine: Fair--a Tuscan red, good but overpriced for the quality. Dessert: We have had the "beignets" before--these are tasty enough but they are NOT in any sense beignets--just sugary doughnut holes with caramel sauce on the side. What they called an entremet might, in a pinch, be considered a "deconstructed" entremet--but an entremet it was not. The parts were, however, very good, if little more than a small mound of fond chocolate with cocoa nibs and a bit of white filling. We were very pleased with the unexpected serving of two extra dessert items, quartets of little chocolate dollops on shortbread and Sangria-infused gel cubes--very playful and delightful. Decent late-bottled vintage port and good tea and coffee. The service was spot on--absolutely top-notch. We were VERY pleased with service and atmosphere. Despite the scattered culinary contradictions, I say : Go to Hawks--time well spent.“
“I got the butter chicken plate in a combo with fries, my husband got the butter chicken gyro with fries. The butter chicken is very good and the rice is incredibly fragrant and flavorful. The salad that came with it had shredded lettuce, cucumber and a very nice creamy dressing. The fries are a less peppery and less greasy version of what you would get a Rally's/Checkers, very good. They play really nice relaxing synth-pop covers of popular songs that we also really enjoyed. The soda machine is in the dining area, so you can refill as needed. The person who took our order was super nice and helpful. Would highly recommend.Kid-friendliness: Nice, family friendly music, soccer on the TV, nice staff.“

“My kids actually chose this place for my birthday dinner! I was a little skeptical because of the name of the restaurant and the fact that we were bringing our young grandkids. All I could envision was a crowded bar/pub type place that catered to the college crowd. Was I ever wrong! It wasn't too crowded, and we were able to get right in, no wait. Our large party was seated at a table plenty big enough to accommodate us comfortably. The menu was diverse enough so that it had something for everyone, including a kids menu. Our drinks were delivered promptly, and our food order followed shortly afterward. We ordered burgers, the Ribeye French Dip, Cali Chicken Sandwich, and other things, along with several appetizers. I highly recommend the Ribeye French Dip. Super flavorful and tender (even when I had to reheat the last half the next day). Service was over the top good, with friendly staff who made great suggestions. There was even live music that was actually entertaining.We've added University of Beer to our list of fun places to go. Don't be afraid of taking the kids!“

“Land Ocean is a nice date night, special occasion, or just looking for a good plate for brunch, lunch, or dinner. It gets busy in the evenings, especially on weekends. If you're looking for a nice date night or special day a reservation is recommended. We usually get the land ocean with king crab legs (they crack them for you, which is a plus), the calamari is okay (not as breaded and crisp as I'd like), the large side salad is a good split plate option, and the burgers for lunch are delicious, the brunch veggie skillet is delicious, and it is children friendly here.“

I especially love to come here on warm summer nights and sit outside with the hanging bulbed lights, water wall and lush vegetation surrounding the outdoor patio area. It's wicked pleasant. Their menu is a good size and they offer specials and change up dishes based on whats in season. I really like their pasta dishes especially. This visit I hot the scallops and they were summer yummy and sliced like butter. I also got to try the salmon tacos which were good and satisfying and their roasted beet salad. That reminds me, I love their salads too. They also sell wine and if there's a wait it's fun to wander around their wine display and check out the different labels. Wonderful servers too and host. “Been here twice in last 3 weeks with my buddy and neighbor Mike. The food was pretty good for a sports bar. Our server the first time was Candace and last night Thursday September 28 was Teresa. Both times the servers were outstanding. They each were fun, friendly and very attentive. They both really added to an already good vibe. Loads of TV's and good viewing layout although the sound was very uneven between tv's and couldn't hear the broadcast for the Packer game. “We really enjoy our visits here, we have come by for lunch and dinner. It's a pretty chill place normally. We did come by on a Friday night and they had karaoke in the bar, which was fun to hear. The manager really helped us when had an issue with the food. The item was removed from the check and a glass of wine was comped. Really appreciated how quickly he responded. Whenever we are in town, this place is a definitely on our list.“

The space has some kitschy little touches like a silverware clock and outlet plug ins in the booths??? It could definitely benefit from a little face lift. Service was another area that could have used a little improvement. We were greeted and seated and then left to our own for a bit. The menu options are plentiful which is not always a good thing. The food was mostly hit or miss for us. The hash browns on the Benedict are very pretty but were left uneaten due to the stale grease taste. The scramble was pretty tasty. This is a 3.5 star review for us which I will round up for being a family run establishment.“

“Alright, I admit, I have been driving past this place for decades. I always thought "Huh, cool name. I should stop sometime" but never did for some reason. Last night my wife and I were driving past after an event in Rocklin and we decided to finally give it a shot. Why have we not been here before?! An incredibly cozy and fun neighborhood bar. Great food; my cheesesteak was amazing and the homemade chips were on point. The prices are totally fair. The ambience was fun with a lot of regulars in good spirits. The music was there but not so loud that you couldn't hold a conversation. Apparently one of the owners is from Chicago, so there is plenty of Cubs and Bears paraphernalia along with SF gear (the other owner is NorCal) and it definitely has the Midwest "neighborhood bar" vibe. I half expected to see a bottle of Mallort behind the bar. Anyway, you should definitely stop driving by The Glass Turtle and stop in!!“

Our server was friendly and gave us time to peruse the vast menu ( actually 3 menus). We started with coffee, hot chocolate, and an Irish coffee. We also ordered waffles to start. My partner and I split a sticky maple pecan. I forgot to take a picture of the full dish, but it was everything it advertised, sticky, maple, with bacon. The waffle itself was a Belgian gingerbread. It was definitely delicious. We moved on to entrees, I had the breakfast Sammy, others had the Folsom omelet, seafood, loco, and salmon Benedict. The portions were large, the food was hot. My hash browns were crispy. The only slight disappointment was the crab cake was very bready in the loco. The sandwich was full of bacon, eggs, and avocado. It was really good. We decided to add this location to our Sunday rotation. The service was excellent. The crew worked together seamlessly. If you like to drink, there's a full bar, specialty drinks and of course, mimosas.“
“Any Jack's Urban Eats is always a pleasure to visit and go thru their cafeteria like ordering system and then sit and hangout a bit. This time we did an online order and was able to pick our food up from their self pick up shelf which was nice because I didn't have to visit the busy workers. I always go for their chicken sandwich, husband likes to get the mango salsa chicken sandwich with a gluten free bun which is so nice that they offer, and we go for the family garlic fries which are always good. We also got a side of Mac and cheese for our one year old and I haven't ordered that dish before and unfortunately it was not good. Was not nearly cheesy enough and the noodles weren't cooked al dente. My baby girl didn't even give them the time of day and she LOVES Mac and cheese. Maybe it was a bad batch but probably won't try that again. Otherwise any other item on the menu is amazing! And truly the employees put in work to make it amazing so kudos for them.“
