“Okay I was brought here as a treat by my daughter. When we arrived we were greeted promptly. The attention we received was welcoming. The decor, ambiance was warm. I ordered several items, tempura veggies and the best sushi roll. Salmon was so delicious and fresh. I highly recommend this place for a special occasion or just an amazing bite of flavor.“

“We came here on our roadtrip from San Francisco to San Diego, and it was so good we stopped on our way back north as well!Excellent quality salmon and tuna, and tons of sauce and topping options. We came at off hours one of the times and the rice wasn't dry which was impressive as we wouldn't have been surprised if it were. The lady behind the counter helped us both times and was super nice and helpful. We tried musubi (spam and rice wrapped in seaweed wrap like sushi) for the first time here, and it was fantastic! The only reason we didn't get it again today was because we couldn't finish everything last time (large poke bowl and musubi). But it'd be a perfect late afternoon snack.Absolutely would go out of our way to return next time we're in California! “Had a anniversary dinner with my wife wanted to try a new sushi place so we came to kanpai. from when we first came in staff greeted us friendly with a smile. Our waitress was outstanding she was professional and friendly answer every question we had about the menu with a smile .food was awesome good taste we tried raw tuna for the first time gota say the way it was presented on the roll was nice. Over all it was a good experience definitely going back in the future.“

The kids were happy coloring with provided crayons and the waitress was happy to help them with chopstick cheaters (plastic apparatus placed at the end to turn them into tongs). They loved the Ramune marble drinks and there was a fair selection of flavors. There were plenty of non-sushi options too.The udon is great but I love the special cut rolls. “Wonderful staff and sushi chef Scott gave us great recommendations. The edamame and gyoza were fresh and tasty. We got some albacore, tuna, and salmon nigiri which were all good. The Nipomo Roll was delicious but the Albacore Delight Roll was the star. Will definitely be back soon!“
