“Nice remodelling. Three self serve terminals and a manned register, much like the competitors. Interior is all new, fresh and warm versus the old look. No accessible soda fountains, so you gotta ask staff for refills.
Ordering was quick, with a monitor to track your order number among all the orders the kitchen is handling.
The new Whopper. Well, it's not the one from decades ago, but It looks nice - puffy bun, sesames, nothing smashed flat. Stuffed with whole leaf lettuce, not shredded. Tomatoes, pickles and the rest. A large burger in size.
First bite - bun is not fluff and is drier than others with collapsed buns, like at mcd or tommy's. Nice crunch of the lettuce, tomatoes not sour at all. Patty, good flame broiled taste that doesn't overwhelm the meat flavor. Takes a couple good chews, definitely not like others with puffy buns, overwhelming sauce and microwaved patties.
Overall, solid burger (3.5) where you get the taste of meat that isn't so sloppy and oversauced that you wonder if you're eating a burger like McD (2.5), but that's a personal preference. And you don't feel like you've eaten a grease bomb like Five Guys (3). Not mediocre like Tommy's (2).
Fries are typical BK (3) - on the crisper side with a denser interior than what you'd find at In n Out (3), which is often limp. Here, the lighter texture of Wendy's fries (3.5) can be used for comparison. McD fries has beef flavor added, so on a good day when they're really well made (5), but typically (3).
With that said, I personally prefer the taste of Carl's for a flame broiled (4) with fried zucchini (5) as the side, or Habit (4). And In n Out (5) is in its own category for a grilled burger. Certainly above McD after they switched to shredded lettuce and added too much sauce in the BigMac, and sucked the life out of the QtrLbs. (Both 3)
Prices. In line with everyone else in this crazy state, but they've got deal items if you're trying to squeeze in a meal under $8.“
