“Major props to Los Alpes Ice Cream. I get nostalgic every time I come here. I have been visiting since I was a kid and the memories I have from this place are all great. The quality is just as good today as it was back then. I literally met my best friend here over 30 years ago and the interior still looks exactly the same.

I love coming here every chance time permits when I am visiting Los Angeles. It is one of those places that brings me right back and it never disappoints.

The flavor selection is amazing. Even though I usually keep it simple with cookies and cream, I have a hard time resisting the mamey and nuez every single time. Their ice creams are packed with ingredients. Cookies and cream is loaded with actual cookies and the nuez has that perfect nutty richness in every bite.

The staff and owner are always attentive, friendly, and genuinely pleasant. This place is a true Los Angeles institution. It still surprises me how many people do not know about this gem. If you have never been, do yourself a favor and check it out. You will see why it has been around for decades.“

“Not sure why it took me so long to write a review for this spot. But I’ve been coming here for a few years now, and I gotta say. I’ve tried açaí bowls from plenty of other spots, but this has been my #1 for a while. They are delicious and reasonably priced. Staff is great too and I like ordering makes it easy to get.“

“I love this place! I used to come here often when I was working in DTLA. The food is legit, my favorite Japanese comfort food place in Little Tokyo. At that time, long ago, I remember the owner worked in the kitchen and his daughter will be serving the tables, a true family business. I think I saw the son now administering this place, he was in school when I was coming here.
One of the few original places left here, a clear indicator that their food and service are always good. I should come again soon with my family to reminisce the good old days and have a wonderful meal.“

“If you’re looking for a delicious matcha yuzu lemonade you have to try theirs. It’s not on the menu so you have to ask the baristas if they can make it. Whenever I go to coffee shops that have yuzu lemonade I always ask if they can add matcha to it. Anko’s is the best!!! Their matcha actually blends with the lemonade. It doesn’t taste weird and gritty. I would also absolutely recommend their taiyaki is also really nice and crispy and not too sweet!“

The snow ice has a great texture and they let u have two included toppings! Every time I come, they fully load your cup. Even if you order a small size. Just when I was running out of soft serve I found more at the bottom lolSundae was perfect amount of chocolate and whipped cream. “The restaurant on the third floor that used to have mariachi shows is boarded up and closed. They been closed since the Covid shutdown. Everything else is open. There is still plenty of food and small booths selling leather goods, makeup, piñatas, traditional Mexican dresses and shirts, and lots more.“

“been here several times, best bingsu spot in the greater area. always get the mango (best when summer season for peak ripeness). thought the cinnamon toast was alright, the flavors without syrup can't really compete though. the chocolate crepe cake was also okay, though for the price you should just get bingsu.“

“This place is not called el Piquin Mexican Grill anymore. it’s called Taqueria La Fogata and since they have changed owners. the food has been so much better and more delicious than ever before. everything on the menu is great especially their chicken that they specialize in. every type of food from breakfast lunch and dinner. I drove up from Orange County and, the moment I walked in, I was greeted with an ALOHA and watched the place get packed. It was a perfect place to meet up with friends! Spam & eggs with rice for breakfast hit the spot. Malasadas are fresh and warm! Then they added live musicians playing Hawaiian music and I didn't want to leave. Most stores usually have little to not much variety, but this location always has something in store for everyone! It has flavors for ice cream that other locations don’t seem to have. They always try to introduce something new and refreshing that anyone can and will enjoy! Whenever I have entered this store, they always have fresh corn for an esquite or fresh fruit for hot summer days. “I came in on 12/27 around 2pm and there were 2 guys working ( Anthony and someone else I didn't catch his name tag)They were dealing with a crazy customer who was yelling at them, talking down at them over a small upcharge they didn't want to pay for. They took care of the rest of us in line while still handling her which I really appreciate. They didn't deserve that treatment and still kept a smile on their face. They kept a good attitude despite someone being rude and entitled!“
