The menudo is bomb! I’ll come here instead of driving to East LA now.
This place used to close super early despite its hours and even calling to see if it would be open but that hasn't happened in a long time... The food here is handmade and feels like it's a lot cleaner and higher quality than your typical taco stand style place. I appetite their tacos fajatos and burritos and it's honestly the best spot in town
Food was amazing

El Rey Mexican Food and Cafe offers delicious Mexican dishes with friendly and attentive service. The restaurant has a counter service setup, but servers bring out the food and drinks, including a selection of draft beers. Customers have praised the "Roasted Meat and Pineapple" dish, as well as the Al pastor nachos, caldo de pollo, torta de milanesa, and chicken tacos de canasta, all of which are highly recommended. Recently, visitors enjoyed the Al pastor burrito, describing it as delicious, and appreciated the attentive and friendly staff. The restaurant is also known for its good mole, which customers find irresistible, and authentic tacos dorados with fresh shells. The decor is nice, and the overall atmosphere is welcoming, making it a great spot to enjoy excellent food and personable service. Customers have also enjoyed the Chile Verde with potatoes, Huarache of carne asada, and tacos de lengua, as well as the variety of agua frescas and the owner Jose's friendly and cool personality.
