“Continuing my rural Lamont/Arvin series, Pop's Drive-In is a local burger joint that serves made-to-order burgers, salads, shakes, etc. Like the other reviewer mentioned, it's one of 6 burger joints you'll find lining up Main Street in Lamont, CA (3 local joints including Frosty King & Rootbeer King as well as the 3 big franchises-Jack's, McD's and most recently, Burger King). With a lot of choices to choose from, what sets Pop's apart is the fact that their food is really made-to-order. As a tip, you definitely want to call ahead if you work at GEI and only have 30 mins or an hour to spare for lunch. If you pull up to the drive thru, chances are you have at least 1-2 vehicles in front of you. Only reason why I'm going there today after religiously bringing my own lunch this week is that I forgot my lunch at home. I opted for a Grilled Chicken burger this time. Added avocado, onions and a side of their thousand island dressing and it was satisfaction. Not sure whether it was divine intervention or sheer will power, but I managed to order this meal without their perfectly seasoned fries or the strawberry lemonade. Either way, the burger was filling enough due to its massive size which is bigger than my handheld calculator. Pop's is also my go-to place for their Grilled Chicken Salad, which has the same grilled chicken breast that comes in the burger. Since healthier options in Lamont are rare with all the burger joints and Mexican restaurants, I found their salad provides a healthier option if you're looking for one. The salad usually comes with chopped Romaine lettuce, Persian cucumbers, green bell peppers, red onions, and cheese. They have 2 lemon wedges on the side and let me tell you, that acid just takes the salad to a whole new level. Order it with avocado and thousand island dressing and you'll keep ordering it, trust.“
“Literally won't go anywhere else for tacos. We have tried almost everything on the menu, and taste has never failed. Service is amazing, fast and professional. Very reasonable pricing and food quality and portions are exceptional. 10/10.“
“This is the place I've used as a comparison of what real, authentic carnitas and birria tacos should be. The carnitas tacos rivel some of the best I've tasted in Michoacán, Mexico. I don't recommend trying other meats, although they're good too, the carnitas (mixtas/surtidas) and birria de chivo are the best I've tasted anywhere in the U.S. It's a no frills lunch truck in a somewhat rough neighborhood of Bakersfield, but it's well worth it. I lived in LA for 6-7 years and I couldn't find tacos that could come close to these from Los Cuñados Bakersfield (lunch truck).“

“They are the sweetest people. Be aware it is cash only. I was not aware and had my debit card, I did not have enough cash on me for my order. He offered me to come back tomorrow to pay him. I told him I had some cash but I was 4 dollars short. The food was already made and he was sweet and said no worries that it was fine. How sweet of him. I believe he was the owner. The food was delicious and made to order. I had called it in and when I picked it up it was ready and still hot when I got home. 10/10 Definitely recommend. “Yup their name is accurate. The tacos were very tasty. I like the asada the most of the three carnes I tried (asada, lengua, and chorizo). If you want a kick order the chorizo. My BF is tearing a little from the chorizo. They also had cabeza, tripa, and pastor. I didn't try those yet, will be back. Likely during tacos Tuesday when they're tacos are $1.50 each.“

“From the outside surrounding of the building you second guess coming in. But how wrong could I be? As soon as I come in the restaurant is nice and clean and the gentleman came out behind the counter to take my order(very friendly) got a few pastor tacos and they were fire. “So delicious! We had the menudo and the asada torta :) no regrets and we already have intentions to go again next time we find ourselves in town. The meat was flavorful and the chili was hot! “This is my go to taco spot in the area! The do mainly speak Spanish so you can practice your español, but you can also speak English too. They make everything to order so it does take some time. Sometimes it does take a little too long or at least it feels like it when it's winter or summer. Don't forget to ask for grilled onions and peppers for your tacos but eat the peppers with caution because sometimes it'll get you good. No problem if you get the horchata, which you must go home with!“

A man came RUNNING up to my window and says “you’re not waiting I’ll help you now and you can skip all these people!” So I did he came took my order and had my food to my within 10 mins. “As the name suggests, they have several frescas beverages, including, but not limited to watermelon and horchata. We tried those flavors and thought they were great. We also ordered the tacos in a bowl (rolled potato tacos), quesabirria tacos, crunchy cheese empanada, and enquires. All were well made and tasted great. Service time was fairly quick considering the size of our order. We are looking forward to coming back to try the desserts. There were several options for that, too. The fresas con crema and banana cream stood out to us and are what we'll try when we are here next.“

“This Jack in the Box is SUBSTANTIALLY tastier than any other fast food chain I've visited, and this one in Lamont taste WAY better than every other Jack in the Box location I've been to. It actually feels like I get my money's worth since the total price for three people is around $35 on average, and I don't feel ripped off. Best fast food hands down, and even better with the app. Plus the workers there are great and will give you tons of sauce if you ask.I highly recommend the egg rolls and their cluck chicken sandwiches if you want something tasty.“
