I am so impressed with Chowchilla Taco Shop. After moving back to town, I finally tried it and it’s hands-down the best Mexican food I've had. The ingredients are perfectly seasoned and flavorful. The value is incredible—huge plates of food for under $12. On top of that, the customer service was quick and genuinely friendly. Highly recommend for anyone looking for an authentic, affordable meal!”

“If you are in the area of Planada and are craving authentic Mexican food come here and enjoy their tacos, etc. I highly recommend them to my friends, family and new friends who are traveling on Hwy 140 heading to Mariposa or Yosemite. You will not be disappointed but totally satisfied. Doubled wrap tacos for $3 a piece. They sell menudo too. Yummy! Fabulous friendly customer service. You can sit there to eat outside under car port cover patio, bench tables and bathrooms. I encourage for you all to try them out if your passing through.”

One thing outstanding about this particular location: the owner opted for paper towels in the restoom so you don't have to touch the dirty door handle to exit the restroom right before you handle your food. This has been a big pet peeve of mine even before covid....at any restaurant, but especially Subway where you eat your food with your hands! What are you other Subway owners thinking?”

“Absolutely blown away! I ordered the Candied Bacon Blast and it was, hands down, one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had—not just at The Sand Trap, but anywhere. The bacon was perfectly crispy with that sweet glaze, and the layers of flavor in every bite were unbelievable. It hit all the marks: savory, sweet, crunchy, and satisfying. I’m not sure if these bad reviews are talking about the same place I went, but “Mario’s Traditional Mexican Food” in Chowchilla, CA was absolutely amazing! The service, atmosphere and definitely the food were great.

We had a large party so Mario, himself, came to check on us. He made sure we had everything we needed. We wanted guacamole for our tortilla chips and he brought the ingredients to our table and showed us how he makes it and served it fresh! He took the time to speak to us which showed that it was deeper than just patronizing his business.

Mario is a great business owner, cook, server and overall all… a great person! I would recommend eating here 10/10. If I lived in Cali, this would be a weekly staple for my family.
