Based on the reviews, Harvelle's in Long Beach is a cool spot that feels like stepping into another world. It used to be a speakeasy, and the moment you walk down the staircase, you enter a dimly lit room with a long bar, heavy velvet curtains, and intimate seating wrapped around a small stage. The atmosphere is moody, a little mysterious, but warm and inviting. The venue is very nice, and there is paid parking next to Harvelle's for $7.
The drinks come out strong, though some reviews noted watered down drinks with a 2 drink minimum and costs of $17 and up. There is great live music, including jam sessions where random people come together for a beautiful performance. The entertainment includes comedy shows and fabulous burlesque shows with talented performers. However, the restrooms did not look clean, and there were only 2 servers, so ordering at the bar is recommended. The VIP seating was not worth the cost.
