Pancho's Mexican Restaurant is a family-owned, Long Beach institution for 58 years. It is consistently some of the best mex around, serving the same great food for over 50 years. The appearance is old style and looks terrible from the outside, with a challenging driveway and parking lot entrance. The dining room has booths and classic, original decor. There are no frills and a very limited bottled beer selection. The service is very prompt, and the workers are great. The restaurant is cash only, no cards accepted, and closed on Mondays. The food is the prize: the best hard shell tacos, a crunchy beef taco filled to capacity, a delicious cheese enchilada smothered with flavorful red sauce, and a beef burrito with wonderful sauce. The complementary chips and salsa are made well, and the tortilla chips with cheese are a 10/10. The food is so good that it is something to crave. The prices are the best part, very inexpensive and affordable. For a nice date, two people paid $36 and ate really good. Lunch can be under $15. The beans are bussin', the guac is a funny but tasty green color, and the bag of chips will last a month. The enchiladas were greasy, cheesy, and wet.
