Really nice ramen, and service was excellent. I found street parking right in front, so it was a great experience all around.
Really, really good ramen.

AFURI - DTLA Arts District is a ramen spot with a clean, modern feel that is still relaxed enough for a conversation. The ramen keeps the quality of the originals in Japan, with a neat presentation. Several of the ramens have a unique yuzu flavor in a lighter broth, making them hearty yet not too heavy. The tonkotsu shio ramen has a rich broth and great noodle texture, though it only comes with one slice of protein and no nori. The kara-tsuyu tsukemen is excellent, with thick noodles that soak up the dipping sauce well. The spicy tori karaage is a highlight—super crispy, juicy, and with the right spice level. The yuzu limeade and brewed yuzu lager are refreshing drinks that pair well with richer dishes. The k i r i n slushie Beer is also a favorite. Service is excellent and attentive. The only drawback is the price, with lunch entrees starting at $20+. Free street parking is available but limited at night, with paid lots nearby. Overall, a solid spot with a lighter take on classic flavors, also offering sushi and sashimi.
