Based on six reviews, L.A. Rose Cafe is a long-standing LA gem that serves Filipino food that tastes like home. The food is flavorful and a huge hit with both Filipino and non-Filipino guests. Popular meals include the buchon (crispy pork), which is very crispy and a must try, the deep fried fish, which is very juicy, and the tocino. The laing meal and sweet & spicy longanisa are also highly praised. The Maria Clara and Juan de la Cruz drinks are 10/10, with two free refills offered. The arroz caldo brought back memories, tasting like what a mother used to make. The decor gives Lola vibes and feels like being at home. The atmosphere is great and the restaurant is decorated nicely. Service is a mixed experience. Some staff are very friendly and outstanding, with one waiter even offering a free refill to go. However, service can be slow, and some servers seemed upset when asked for water refills. There were also issues with ordered items not being brought out, including a drink and the famous empanada. Prices on the menu do not always match the amount charged. The restaurant does not have its own parking lot, and street parking is needed. Despite these issues, the food quality has not changed, and the team has kept up high standards. Portion sizes are crazy, and the price is decent for the serving size.
