Grade A+ (96): Small little kitchen, don't know how much food can come out of it!! They have a small little sitting area, but we most often do it as take out. The Jambon Beurre (Ham and Butter) are my favorite, the Baguette 🥖 is awesome and they put a hefty amount of butter and French Ham very thinking sliced. The Ham & Cheese and the Chocolate Croissants are very good but you have to go early, by 12:30 they were sold out! The guys are very friendly, prices are a bit on...read full review
Great!!
Perfect sandwich. Best in LA. If the price bothers you, the full size portion is big enough for two.

Maison Matho is a cozy French-inspired café known for its delicious sandwiches and pastries. The meat sandwiches, including the jambon (ham) and the Daniel Special (with prosciutto), are always fresh and satisfying, served on a baguette that is crisp on the outside and fluffy inside. The omelette sandwich remains a favorite, praised for being fluffy and flavorful. Customers often mention the quality of every ingredient, especially the French butter that adds richness to the pastries and sandwiches. The café also offers a unique pink praline latte, which is not too sweet and has a floral scent.
The small café has a neighborhood feel and is easy to miss, but it features a nice seating area and a vibrant atmosphere. The baguette is a real star, with a perfect balance of crispness and fluffiness. Many reviews highlight the accessibility of the ingredients, making the sandwiches simple yet impactful—each ingredient can stand out on its own, like prosciutto, cornichons, and buttery bread. The menu is straightforward, allowing for quick service, and options like half sandwiches add to its appeal.
While parking can be challenging in the busy Melrose area, some guests were fortunate to find parking right in front. Customers enjoy grabbing a coffee, such as the excellent Americano, and soaking up the café’s charm. The pastries, especially the Almond Croissant, are praised for their luscious, flaky pastry and rich almond filling. Overall, Maison Matho continues to delight visitors with its fresh, flavorful offerings and welcoming atmosphere.
