The schnitzel was very good
When we visit Mammoth for hiking/backpacking/flyfishing, Austria Hof Restaurant is one of our two go-to restaurants. We love German food, and this is authentic German cuisine. We are returning this month for some outdoor adventure, and we definitely want to return to Austria Hof for dinner.

The Austria Hof Restaurant offers a delightful German-themed dining experience in Mammoth. The menu features delicious German dishes, including savory steaks, chops, and the popular Hungarian Beef Goulash. The cozy and dimly lit bar downstairs provides a warm and inviting atmosphere, perfect for enjoying tasty cocktails like the barrel-aged old fashioned and indulging in the restaurant's signature dishes, such as the escargot, baked Brie, schnitzel, and the insane apple strudel. The friendly and welcoming staff contribute to the overall great atmosphere, making it a must-visit destination for those in Mammoth. The service is always on point, and the delightful smell of excellence hits you right as you walk in. Visitors keep coming back for the amazing food and fun vibe with the locals.
The restaurant serves typical German cuisine, and the ambiance is nice and warm. Customers have enjoyed the sausages, venison ribs, and goulash, though the goulash may not be quite at par with the European version. The Jagerschnitzel's gravy was thin, and the schnitzel were also thin, but the potato pancakes were the highlight of the sampler platter. The Elk chops were cooked to perfection, and the server, Daly, was attentive to the customers' every need, making the dining experience exceptional.
