Felt the need to review because I found the other reviews a little misleading. We almost didn't ride the gondola to the top and get a drink after reading through all the reviews but we decide to anyway just to kill some time. So here's the deal, we went New Year's Eve after a bunch of snow dumped (so very busy) and there was ample amount of seating between the inside/outside tables. This is a GREAT place where to learn about the mountain ranges of Mammoth, it's geological history, and the wildlife that is indigenous to the area. It is small, but packed with info--if you have the opportunity, listen to the ranger of this interpretive center. A nice stop at the summit for those not skiing, or if you brought young ones for the (360°) view.

We took the gandolas for the scenic ride and had a cup of coffee at the top. Beautiful views from all angles. This is the jump off for the slopes, highest point, so if you don't like heights this may not be for you.
