“The College Boy cheesesteak truck (calling it mere food truck doesn’t do it justice) dropped by our neighborhood so we decided to give it a go. We were not disappointed. Rather the opposite, in fact. The escapees from Philadelphia who own and run College Boy make the best cheesesteak I have had outside of Philadelphia and the second best one I have EVER eaten. The meat/cheese/peppers/onion mix is perfect with ingredients that are obviously selected for quality and yumminess, not for price. The sandwich is on a roll that could be eaten with no filling at all and the whole thing’s assembled with skill and pride. On a one-to-ten point scale, the sandwich is a 94 pointer at the very least. The crispy fries on the side menu are one my husband said were so good that he’d happily have them as a main dish. They’re crispy and then some yet not oily or greasy. Oh, and they do offer the fries as a sort of main dish, layered with cheese and the same perfectly cooked rib eye that is in the sandwiches. Guess what he’s ordering the next time we hit College Boy up?“

“Philly’s Best on Melrose is legit! I got the classic cheesesteak and it was really good — juicy thin-sliced beef, melty cheese, and a soft roll that didn’t fall apart.
The portions are big and it actually tastes like a real Philly cheesesteak. The owner even visited our table, which was a nice touch. Friendly staff, quick service, and chill spot right on Melrose.
If you’re in the area and want a solid cheesesteak, this is the place. I’ll definitely go back.“

“Charley’s was a mouthful of Philly right here in Culver City! I got the “Old School” with provolone, grilled onions, and tomato. The bread was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The meat was shaved thin to perfection. And the fries! Thick and delicious. Coulda sworn I’d crossed the Schuykill to get here!“

“Do we understand what a Philly cheesesteak is?
Let me explain. The whiz / provolone is melted into the meat. If you ask for extra cheese, it will not look any different. Just eat the sandwich and see how you feel
This is at the reviews saying “there’s no cheese” or “the meat is too salty”
This is a genuine Philly cheesesteak. Slightly heavy-handed on the whiz, but I was very randomly and pleasantly surprised. I haven’t had that taste since 8 years of leaving Pennsylvania“
