“The cashier was very friendly, she helped guide me into picking out food to try. The food was good, I was pleasantly surprised the chicken was not dry. The place needed a little cleaning but it was pretty busy when I went so it was understandable.“

“Da Big Easy is back at it. I ordered fried okra, but once again they didn't make the photo shoot because they didn't survive the ride home, not even the lagniappe. The oxtails were tender and succulent (falling off the bone). That fluffy rice layered with that silky gravy. The Mac n cheese was cheesy creamy yummy and the yams complementevery bite perfectly. You guys don't disappoint. That peach cobbler was so good! The owners treat you like you're guests in their home-real southern hospitality!“
“Old Town Murrieta is a very quiet place most days, but Calhoun's is always busy with lots of take out orders and people going through. Service is very fast and it appears that you can call ahead to order. The menu is standard fare for American BBQ, and everything we tried off the menu is good. The physical space is very small, they only have about 4 tables so I wouldn't recommend coming with a large group and expecting to sit down and eat. They pack everything in to go boxes so it's easy to just grab your order and go. The food and service is superb, you can definitely tell everything made from scratch and with care!Parking: The plaza is reasonably sized with parking easily available.Kid-friendliness: American BBQ is messy. As long as you have napkins for the kids, they should be alright.Wheelchair accessibility: ADA accessible entrance and seating available.“
“I was actually in the area, delivering beer next door to So Cal Tacos. I got out of my truck and the amazing scent coming from MayBell’s BBQ’s smoker was absolutely heavenly. I couldn’t resist. I got the brisket sandwich with beans and corn. The brisket melted in my mouth and was crazy good on its own. The BBQ sauce complement the seasoning on the brisket and pushed it to the next level. “Been coming here since they opened in 2011 and am never ever disappointed. We don’t live in the area anymore but anytime we are in Murrieta we have to eat here! Everyone is so genuinely kind and the food is delicious, and they have many dishes that they can make vegan which is wonderful. Great prices and portions, I hope they are around for a very long time!“
“Pete catered the food for my wedding of 130 people in April 2023 and we got an insane amount of compliments on how AMAZING the food was! Not only was the food so delicious that we kept adding extra sides and appetizers after our tasting because it was so good, Pete is also the nicest and very professional. He answered all of our questions, went above and beyond to make our day perfect, and has a wonderful staff that follow those traits as well. I would throw another wedding just to have his catering again! Highly highly recommend him to anyone looking for some good bbq at a fair price!“
