Love the Pork Tonkatsu!
Came here for a date night. It has casual hole in the wall vibes. We sat outside the night was perfect. I ordered the angry edamame, Brussels kushiyaki, and tempura veggie roll. My husband ordered the Hirame Carpacccio, Salmon lemon roll and bacon wrapped mochi. He claimed the bacon wrapped mochi had the best bites of the night. It appeared to have the same sauce as the Brussel sprouts which was delicious. The angry Edamame had a delicious chili garlic oil. The food was solid....read full review
Wow! I'm from outta town-ran into this place at 230pm and of course it's dead, nobody there. Friendly guy greets me, I order the 3 choice hand rolls to go. Return in a few minutes, ready with a smile. Get home, unwrap... insanely delicious, great prep, super high quality. I should have tipped more. Next time! Thank you!

Oni kuma is a small and cozy restaurant with light jazz in the background and a nice ambiance. The food is of really high quality, with fresh ingredients and great prep. The service is phenomenal, with a friendly greeting and a smile. Specific meals like the 3 choice hand rolls are insanely delicious, and the Seabass Karma is melt-in-your mouth, buttery, and flaky. The wine and sake selection is much better than other spots. However, food is sometimes really slow coming out, and some find the four rolls bland with no textural contrast, while the katsu chicken/curry side dish is overpriced and oily. Despite this, the restaurant offers more options than other Japanese spots in Mill Valley, is not fast food fried, and is a step below Sushi Ran but less pricey and more personal. An omakase experience is available with a reservation. Oni kuma is a go-to for lunch, with clean parking and a cute outdoor seating arrangement in progress.
