Suzanne's Cake & Pastry Reviews
I would give this 5 star for their egg tarts except like other reviews stated it is quite pricey but yummy!
Get the egg tart. That’s all
I was bored and walking around downtown Milbrae when I stumbled upon this bakery. It had most of the classic Cantonese breads and pastries that I grew up eating, and their pineapple bun was so so good.

Suzanne's Cake & Pastry is a charming bakery known for its delicious breads and pastries. A favorite among customers is their white bread and raisin toast, which stay fresh and soft for up to a week. The Portuguese egg tarts, or pastel de nata, are particularly popular and often sell out early due to their crispy, flaky shell and creamy egg custard. Other offerings include steamed buns, rolled pork floss, pineapple buns, and hot dog buns. The shop is tidy and clean, with fast service.
The Portuguese egg tarts are the flagship item, with a buttery, flaky crust and rich filling. The pineapple buns and steamed buns with black sesame are also popular, though some wish the buns were fluffier or had more filling. The bakery offers a variety of baked pork baos, sweet bread loaves—like the red bean loaf—and beautiful cakes, including a small chestnut cake perfect for small parties.
The place is popular with locals, often busy before 8am on weekends. The family running the shop is super nice, and the service is great and hospitable. Note that a minimum $15 purchase is required for credit card use, and bringing cash for smaller purchases helps the business. It’s recommended to visit early to ensure availability of popular items like the Portuguese egg tarts.
