About Kunjip Tofu

Kunjip Tofu is a well-regarded Korean restaurant known for its flavorful food and upscale, clean atmosphere. The restaurant offers a variety of dishes, with the seafood tofu soup being a standout, packed with tender seafood like scallops, shrimp, and squid, and featuring a mellow, flavorful broth. The complimentary side dishes are impressive, with free refills, and the place settings are pretty, adding to the upscale vibe. Many diners enjoy the bonchon dishes, which are beautifully prepared and consistently replenished, making them a highlight of the menu. Appetizers like seafood pancakes and japchae are also enjoyed, with the seafood pancake tasting like a shrimp cake and offering an interesting, tasty experience. The snow crab tofu soup and Wagyu Tofu Soup are popular for their quality and flavor, though some feel that the Wagyu beef in dishes like bibimbap could be more tender. The kimchi jjim is less favored, with one reviewer noting a too-mole-like taste. The menu differs between locations, with the Mountain View branch offering a comfortable environment and excellent service, though at a higher price point, especially during weekends when wait times can be long. Some dishes, such as the Wagyu galbi and bibimbap, are solid but might not justify a long trip or wait for everyone. Overall, Kunjip Tofu impresses with its delicious food, attentive service, and elegant setting, making it a favorite for those seeking a quality Korean dining experience, despite some concerns about price and wait times.

This is one of the higher-end Korean restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area. The decor is modern and clean, and the staff were friendly and attentive.

One thing to know is that the side dishes can be refilled as often as you want, which is nice, but you only have 75 minutes for the meal. We ordered the Wagyu Galbi, Mixed Tofu Soup, and Kunjip Tofu. Everything was good, but honestly, I’m not sure the food was good enough to make the 2.5-hour round trip worthwhile for...read full review
