Radio Roma/Taco Roma is a unique and vibrant destination tucked just off Ojai’s main street. It is more than a mezcal bar or taco spot; it is an intimate hi-fi listening lounge with a heartbeat all its own. The setting, the vibes, and the atmosphere are consistently described as amazing, cool, groovy, and dope, with great decor and lighting that creates a warm, seductive, and secret feel. Guest DJs spin vinyl five nights a week, filling the air with eclectic soul, funk, and everything in between, contributing to an undeniably cool and confident vibe.
From the kitchen of Taco Roma comes Mexico City-inspired street food that fuels the experience. The food receives high praise, with specific dishes highlighted as delicious and next level. Must-try tacos include the Shrimp Diabla, celebrated for its savory sauce, the Baja Fish, the Carne Asada, the Crispy Lamb Carnitas, and the Mushroom and Nopales Taco. The homemade salsas are something to write home about. For brunch or lunch, the spot is really dope, though a note is made that the burritos are super skinny. To finish, the churros are highly recommended—bite-size, fresh, golden, crunchy, and delish.
The bar serves killer mezcales with all kinds of different flavor profiles, alongside cocktails like the Oaxacan Old Fashioned and the Mezcal Negroni. The hibiscus slushie is also a craved highlight. The experience is rounded out by great service and the potential for magic, making it a place to fall in love with the music, the mezcal, and the moment. It is great for a date, even on your own, and highly recommended.
