Tasty food. We enjoyed rice sizzling soup, pineapple shrimp and beef and broccoli. All dishes had fresh ingredients and perfectly cooked with exact balance of sweetness and salt. Tried the pineapple shrimp for the first time and loved it. Clean place, great and very attentive service.
The best kung pao chicken ever no where else
Makes it as good anywhere

Hunan Garden is a calm, lowkey local Chinese food spot. The food is always hot and fresh, with fresh ingredients that are simple but still tasty. The beef and broccoli is excellent, and the Imperial chicken is superb. Other dishes like Mongolian beef and Szechuan pork have ample sauce but subdued flavors. The fried rice was not good, but the egg drop soup and egg flower soup are favorites. The menu is big with good prices, including an awesome lunch deal between 12 - 2PM. Portions are large for dinner, coming with soup, appetizer, and rice. The service is the best part. The staff are incredibly nice, friendly, and on top of things. Michelle is the owner, super passionate and proud of the business, and she makes sure drinks are always filled. The restaurant has a unique, iconic building with lions and a big red door. The interior is clean, welcoming, and comfortable. The food is middle of the road and lacks deep flavors, but the service, atmosphere, and pricing make it a good experience. This is a thriving old school family business in Oxnard and a local favorite.
