This was such an absolute amazing experience eating here! I loved how they treated me and my mom, the food was good portions and super delicious! This felt like real comfort food and honestly it was such overall a 100/100, I will come back☺!

So I had a craving for shrimp and grits, which is a long time favorite of mine and since the only place in Walnut Creek that has them has been shut down periodically by the health department, I decided to try Southern comfort kitchen. It could use some spiffing up. It's obviously an older location. It's a little ratty looking and they certainly weren't ready for business at opening at 11:00 a.m. but other than that the food was outstanding. The fried shrimp with Cajun fries is amazing and super fresh, while the fried catfish is seasoned well, soft inside and crispy outside. The hush puppies are off the hook, and the portions are huge. The restaurant has a wider seating capacity compared to its Castro Valley location, with a cute and simple decor and a huge shaded patio.
