“Last week my wife and I visited d’Ellena Winery to see what changes had been made since the transition from the former Joseph Filippi Winery—and we were genuinely impressed.

The most noticeable improvement is the wine itself. The new owners are sourcing grapes from Santa Ynez and Santa Barbara, and the difference in quality is immediately apparent. The wines are cleaner, more balanced, and far more enjoyable than what was previously being produced on site.

In the past, many of the wines carried a strong eucalyptus note, likely due to the surrounding eucalyptus trees and the estate-grown fruit. The team at d’Ellena has acknowledged this and shared plans to remove and replace the existing soil and eventually replant new vines, an encouraging sign that they’re thinking long-term about wine quality.

Beyond the wine, the tasting room has been modernized, and the overall atmosphere feels fresher and more intentional. The property itself is being cleaned up, with additional improvements planned as they continue to invest in the winery.

They’ve also mentioned plans to add a venue space in the future, which could make this an even more appealing destination. Overall, d’Ellena Winery is clearly moving in a positive direction, and we’re excited to see how the wines and the property continue to evolve“

“Although we have played bingo at different venues, this was our first time playing at San Antonio Winery. The hostess, DJ , Mike and the rest of the staff were great but it wasn’t what we expected. We didn’t know there would not be any cash prizes only gifts from your winery. Also it was very hot and there were flies which we kept having to shoo off our food and drinks. Despite all that we did have fun. However, i don’t think we’ll be returning.“
