“I felt so comfortable, amazing atmosphere, owner and bartender were super cool. I got the Birria Ramen. Absolutely delicious. Egg was actually cooked perfectly. Which is usually extremely hard to find. Bartender and owner were super friendly and welcoming. I will absolutely be going back weekly. So happy to have found this place. It absolutely will not disappoint. 5 stars.“

“I’ve driven by a few times and today I decided to stop by for some lunch. It’s definitely a hidden gem. Today I ordered a chicken wet burrito with both sauces and it came out delicious. Usually chicken is bland and dry. But they definitely know how to cook here and season the food. Our server Lissette was phenomenal! Fast and welcoming. Definitely will recommend and come back again.“

H-B Saloon Cocktail Bar • $
401 E F St, Oakdale - 5.34 miles

“We stopped here for lunch last Friday after my friend ran a quick work errand in Oakdale. It's a historic bar from the fifties, so it was dark and dated. At first, we did not feel welcome, maybe because we're not regulars. No one was rude, just dismissive. My friend and I had patty melts with fries and a cup of bean soup. I don't think I've ever complained about patty melts. It was perfect. The fries were fresh and crispy too. The bean soup was okay, about a 7/10.Our server perked up and was so friendly by the end of our lunch. We loved hearing stories about the place and some of the history. It was heartwarming, and we love seeing family businesses succeed and the next generation take over. When our server asked if we liked clam chowder, we said yes, so she quickly returned to let us try a sample. This was the best clam chowder we've had, even better than Sam's Chowder House in HMB! A 20/10. It was so creamy, with big chunks of tender clam. We ended up ordering more to go. My husband was also impressed when he tried some for dinner. I finished it two days later, and it was still amazing!“

Lo-Fidelity Laboratories Cocktail Bar • $$
1323 J St, Modesto - 7.23 miles

“I won’t lie that when I first checked out this bar the customer service was a little dry; however, they must have learned from the constructive criticism of other reviews as it has improved from then till now. I’ve probably been to the bar a total of 8-10 times, and every time I’ve come it’s been a fun filled night. The drinks are exotically unique and every different drink I’ve had the chance to try leaves me with a tasteful impression. The atmosphere in the bar is also very cozy. I also love how well informed Shawna (owner) and the rest of the staff are. Their craftsmanship in cocktail making is a true passion as I can tell based off two cocktail classes I’ve taken so far. The classes themselves were extremely fun. I’d also like to point out that Roni’s customer service has been very attentive moving forward. I’ve enjoyed the conversations had and the over all engagement. I’m aiming to try their food/brunch spot next door soon and will gladly update my review if needed when I do.“

“I was happy to come to this restaurant since the San Francisco location closed. The Fuscili Fire Cracker noodles are my favorite and it brought back fond memories that I had when I went into the office. The staff was nice and the place was packed for a Friday night. There is validation if you parked in the parking structure behind the restaurant.“

Valley Inn Bar • $
1744 Main St, Escalon - 5.13 miles

“Easily the greatest bar in rural San Joaquin County. On Saturday night this bar was like something out of a Toby Keith song. You had the old timers, the college students, the farmers, the tourists coming back from Yosemite, and an after party for a local MMA fight in Modesto. The bar has a great selection of draft and bottled beers at a reasonable price. It has the homey and friendly feel of a local dive bar but has been recently renovated so it still looks pristine and nonthreatening. Check out this place if you are on Highway 120 and want to drink beers a safe distance away from Stockton.“
