“Been going here since I was a child. Top 3 burger joint for me. Everything here is great. Only downside is the price. It's gotten expensive. Can't blame them for that tho.. Everything has gotten expensive.Parking: You can park somewhere on Parker or try to get away with parking in the liquor store parking lot.”
“Having lived in the nearby section of the East Bay my entire life, it was shocking when a friend offered for us to join at a very local winery. Right up until the point of parking, I was still skeptical; and then we were at Four Fools Winery. This winery is interesting in that, IMO it is good at a little bit of everything while no particular mastery. The location is not at all far from the water and so provides a nice view for those that want to pay attention. But nice is about it, factually there is no conversation level view like of the GGB or the SF skyline. But thats ok. Parking is on gravel so heel-wearers be cautious. The entrance is basic and local-feeling, not all flashy like other places roughly an hour or so northeast. The benefit of this though would be to support local artists and talent and to buy souvenirs and trinkets that reflect the local culture, not Am@z0n. Staff was kind and talkative to the amount you the patron wants to be talkative, they kinda match your energy. And of course, the wine. The flight was good. The wines differed in flavor and texture so that in itself is always interesting. But nothing jumped out to really grab attention, and the flight could have been a little larger. Again, rating of good. So why go to Four Fools Winery? Two reasons for me. One - proximity. For where we live, this is way closer than Napa, Sonoma, Livermore, Santa Rosa or anywhere else. Cutting traffic time, distance, bridges and gas makes a big impact. And the view is still good if not grande. Two - balance. One more star would come if Four Fools really excelled in one or two areas. Instead everything is "good". However there is a value in that. Nothing is bad, and with everything good there is a sense of basic balance which in itself is a plus. And we plan to go back ourselves, so good isn't an acronym for something lesser or negative. So don't be a fool and pass up this local discovery, be a fool for Four Fools and get in there for a relaxing good time.”
“I absolutely love El Sol authentic Mexican food. From the ground beef and potatoes to the enchiladas or quesadillas. The food is always fresh and served with a smile. I also appreciate them not being overpriced.”
“A cool little local spot that has been around for almost 100 years. Hang with the locals and hear some good stories. Bring your quarters for the pool table. They have wine and beer. Your choice. Plenty of parking. Not a busy place, sometimes they close early, depends on the crowd. Good place for a dinner time drink.”
“I got the club sandwich and it was surprisingly really good! The waitress also suggested a cup of peaches, i had no idea i wanted that and it was good as well. Sadly i wanted the french dip or the American dip but they were out of french rolls but that just means i can come back and enjoy it another time. Cool American diner.”
“Happy wok is amazing. Been coming here since I was young. (Side note) I recommend the “Drums of heaven”. Besides that. They’re a small family business owned restaurant. They’re always on time and made top quality Chinese food. Check them out, folks. No cap.”
“Treated well with swift service and sandwiches turned out great and cookies I got were fresh baked and sooo good. Try this location i was in and out in 10 minutes flat. Told the guy I was in a hurry and he got things done quick! Place was clean and they were wearing masks as they should be. (made me feel safe)Parking: Plenty of spaces around shouldn't be a problem.”
“Surprisingly good pizza. The place is more of a takeout spot in an older strip mall but don’t let that deter you.It has picnic tables that u can sit at to eat in. Thin crust, good quality sauce and cheese. Friendly people working there. Just off the highway. Better than I expected - a pleasant and yummy surprise.”
“This is my very favorite place to eat in the Bay Area. My husband and I always feel like we are absolute criminals when we eat here because we don't believe there can actually be food this good. Everything is perfect in this place, from the drinks, to the apps, to the coffee at the end of the meal. Definitely eat here. When you are done and on the way home, you will feel thrilled and victorious like you have stolen your own car!”
“I had the polenta with prawns and crispy cauliflower. It was delicious. The crispy cauliflower was really good dipped in the garlic aioli that came with the lamb burger sliders which my sister in law thought were good. My brother got the short ribs which looked delicious and I will order it next time. My brother said they tasted great. Sadly he doesn't like to share.”
“Just dropped off Tam Boreenman off at The Happy Ending House of Asian Flavors there on Tennessee street, he asked if I could pick him up in 10 minutes....10 minutes! I told him he can just walk over to the La Pinata Taqueria, where I'll be enjoying some Tacos de Canasta, they're the best in Vallejo! Especially the potato and the frejoli tacos. 5 stars ☆☆☆☆☆”
“Fish and garlic frys.. is my favorite. Right now !!Next week I'll try another..let u know!Parking: Parking is on the street not much of a walk no matter where u park ..It's Crockett!! Lovin it”
“Clean storefront.Friendly and helpful customer service!Everything I can hope for in a couple. Great flavor, butter levels on point, crunchy edges and chewy centers. Cookie perfection!”
“Such a beautiful bakery. We stopped in after lunch for a sweet treat & were not disappointed. The staff are friendly & helped us to choose some very tasty items. We tried an amazing chocolate raspberry cake, which is pictured, chocolatelovers should try this for sure. A lemon bar & a lemon cheesecake. The lemon bar had a nice crispy crust, which was almost biscuit like. Sweet but not overwhelming. Tart & delicious. The lemon cheesecake was dense but not overly sweet . A light lemon taste enhanced the cheesecake instead of taking it over. The americano was served piping hot & great brewed fresh.. We will definitely come again.”
“I was a huge fan of Delirama, my absolute favorite sandwich was the Delirama Mama, so I was sad to hear the owner was going to pivot in a new direction. I prefer take out to dining in, so I waited for that to be an option, and put my order in today. I got a fried chicken sandwich and the pastrami Reuben, both with chips. The menu says a small salad is served with the sandwiches. The fried chicken sandwich is HUGE and delicious. I prefer my fried chicken to be a little on the dark side, which this was. I only wished there were more pickles, but that's because if I could subsist on pickles I would. The Reuben was the same as the Delirama one. My husband was bummed it was "so small," but that's because I used to get the biggest sandwich option and this one is the regular sized one.The chips were yummy, and still warm from the fryer by the time I got home. Or had just taken on some of the radiant heat from my sandwich. Either way, delightful. The salad is not small, it is quite generous in size. The dressing is a little sweet and a lot acidic, which I really enjoyed. My one complaint is that it was overdressed for me, but I prefer the minimum amount of dressing.I gave the atmosphere 4 stars because it was a bit dark inside for me.”
“Super generous sandwiches, high quality ingredients, very informal atmosphere. For what it is, a small sandwich bar, this place is great! I got the Italian one trip and a grilled sandwich on another trip. Both were yummy and satisfying. The Italian was a bit wet and drippy towards the end tho. People behind the counter are super nice. Seems like the kind of place people go out of their was to visit. You do get too much to eat in a single sitting tho, consider sharing a sandwich or planning on taking some home, as they are super generous!! 4 stars. Yay!!”
“They have really pretty outdoor seating. The banchan is excellent (like some of the best ive had). The service was excellent. The main dishes I got were not very good, tofu stew was a little bland and they don’t have bibimbap, only stir fried veggies and meat over rice.Overall I really like this place but would order something different next time.”
“Today I went for breakfast for the first time, I ordered a veggie omelette with French toast, wow everything was delicious, a lot of quality on my plate, excellent service, I will definitely return to this place, I definitely recommend it.”
“The food is creative and delicious! Dad and mom work the front of the restaurant and they are absolute gems: attentive, friendly and they make the dining experience special and fun. The food options were tantalizing and reasonably priced. We will definitely be back! The experience would be even better if the interior looked more like earlier photos (less cluttered and more stylish).Vegetarian options: There are some options available.Parking: No dedicated parking, street parking only.”
“By far the most Authentic place in Vallejo , Fast service takes both cash, card and Apple Pay. Huge portions of food seasoned to perfection. And it’s Halal!! wish i could give 10/5 !! Wish i would have taken photos but i couldn’t wait to dive in ?? im from Mississippi and i haven’t had any quality food since moving here in 2019 this right here!! Straight HEAT!!”
“Good cookie but can sometimes be doughy. I recommend get something razy and something normal so that you have something you definitely like and something to new to try.”
“Jackie(owner/chef) is a wizard. His weekly specials and daily-fresh fish will have you hooked, before you know it!And for the connoisseurs, try the ”spoonful of happiness”.”
“We stayed in Vallejo back in September for our Napa trip and I am just now getting around to leaving all of my reviews. We stopped in here for a couple of beers and food after we arrived in Vallejo because we had an hour or so before we could check into our airbnb. It was nice because it ended up being just a couple of minutes from the airbnb! They had a very nice selection of beers to choose from. We ordered our drinks and food and then sat outside on the patio to get some sun. They had a lot of plants growing in planters all around, so it was pretty despite it only being a multi-level deck. The staff were friendly, the food was good, and the beers even better. A lovely neighborhood spot for some drinks and snacks.”
“We wanted warm comfort food and this was perfect and hit the spot. There's even a vegan menu in addition to meat and seafood.Vegetarian options: Pho chay was delicious, vegan options all looked like they would be great.”
“We dropped into Baxter's randomly last night and we're lucky enough to be seated in the speakeasy. This was a side room of the restaurant but also a world away! The atmosphere was amazing, plush, comfortable and yet sleek with a bit of a club feel. Then the food! Not only was it beautiful in presentation but absolutely delicious. My husband had the lamb and practically licked the plate clean he loved it so much. The scallops were also amazing and not over sauced. Both came with mashed potatoes and veggies which at most restaurants aren't that great, Baxter's however made these side dishes equally fresh and appealing. Their bartender knew what he was doing and made some great martinis as well. Overall it was an excellent experience, highly recommended! Usually I'd have to go to SF to get this kind of service, food and atmosphere.”
“Just came in to get a lunch special, Tikka Masala and Nan.It was VERY good! If you like spicy, it will not disappoint. I'm going to bring my Mom back next time so we can have a pleasant dinner. I know she will enjoy.”
“Amidst the bustling traffic in El Cerrito, there's a hidden gem and a recent addition to the area. Blink and you'll miss it. Even during a brief pause at a stop light when there's a chance to look around, it's highly probable that you'll still miss it. There's no signage on the building itself, so look for the wine barrels sitting on the sidewalk as your clue, or perhaps you'll spot their small sandwich board just outside their front door. Find parking somewhere near 10368 San Pablo Avenue, the address to Banter, a wine bar with a warm atmosphere, welcoming decor, and communal tables. Offering a curated selection of old and new world wines, Banter focuses on small producers who prioritize minimal intervention from vineyard to bottle. On location, you can purchase a bottle from the shelves to enjoy at home or savor a glass (or bottle) in-house. If you need something to eat while you're there, choose from various delicious snacks including cheese, charcuterie, and other tasty treats. During the pandemic, while drinking wine and eating cheese in their backyard, owners Claire and Devin were inspired to open a wine bar, but they wanted their wine bar to feel like "home," - comfy, casual, no frills, just...chill. A collection of cozy couches in the back creates an ambiance reminiscent of enjoying a drink in the living room of your most stylish friend. Classic VHS tapes and 80's knick-knacks are precariously stacked high next to small vintage TVs playing films that will take you back in time. When I was last there the original Flash Gordon was playing. You probably won't get to hear any of the movie dialogue because the bar is spinning LPs from an ever-expanding vinyl collection, fueled by contributions from patrons. A pinball machine in the back room adds to the decor's nostalgic charm and provides an entertaining distraction between pours. With a partial kitchen, Banter partners with local talent and the community to create new opportunities by featuring "pop-ups" - temporary restaurants that allow chefs and restaurateurs to try out a new neighborhood, experiment with their menu, generate a following, or just get some great experience for their staff. During my most recent visit, I got a front-row seat at the bar to witness Chef Emmanual from the restaurant Bolita work his magic with fresh masa, a must-have ingredient at the center of all his signature dishes. Most notable was the Tamal de Calabaza which featured squash masa, mole negro tamal, roasted kabocha, and cashew crema. A nice compliment was the Papas Rositazadas, simple roasted potatoes with black garlic aioli. Both were deliciously elevated and beautifully plated for such a casual environment. Unfortunately by the time you read this Bolita would have moved on to their next location but you can track them down on their website at www.bolitamasa.com. Banter will continue to feature pop-ups and to find out what's in store next visit their location or follow their Instagram @banter_winebar. As temporary as the pop-up food concept is, Banter is hopefully here for good as they focus on what's most important, which is most fittingly stated by the intentionally sloppy, hand-painted sign in front, "Bad Signs, Good Wigns!"”
“This is my new favorite place. It was so good. I've only been here once but I'll definitely be going back. And it's only two blocks from where I live, so it's super convenient. But I'm sad now because I'm moving back to South Carolina and don't think that I'll be able to find Guatemalan food there. I'll be a regular here until I leave. I had the dobladas and the estofado de res, or beef stew, and both were delicious. The dobladas are like empanadas. The pastry isn't flaky like Argentinean empanadas, so they're a little different. They're plump with more stuffing than pastry. There are four in an order, and they come in beef, chicken, or vegetables. The meat stuffing was mixed with carrots and peas, which I liked. The woman taking my order said I could get a mix, so I got two chicken and two beef. Both were delicious. They came with sour cream, grated cheese and guacamole on the side. I don't understand the reviewer who said they lacked flavor. I thought they were very good. I'd order them again. I'd like to try the vegetable one, too. The estofado de res wa also very good, with chunks of tender beef, potato and carrots in a tomatoey gravy. It came with a scoop of rice and potato salad. My mother is from Spain, and the potato salad reminded me of the kind they make in Spain, with peas and carrots. I enjoyed it a lot. I got my order to go, and the ladies who work there gave me a complimentary cup of alote de etol, the warm sweet corn drink, while I waited. It was also very good. My food was ready so fast I had to take it to go. I didn't take any photos because I was too busy eating. I couldn't finish all of the food in one meal, so I saved about half of it for lunch the next day. I can't wait to try their other dishes soon :-) Ambience is casual. The dining area itself is small. Free parking in the back with a disabled spot at the front of the driveway. Service 5/5 Food 5/5 Price 4/5”
“The coffee was delicious and the view was even better! I went around 11am and it was so peaceful to get some work done. I highly recommend this quaint little spot.”
