New Happy Garden is a restaurant in south Sacramento known for authentic Chinese dim sum. The dim sum is great, considered the best in the area, and many recommend ordering number #72, even if it is not on the menu. The food is consistently delicious, fresh, and full of great memories. Popular dishes include intestines, wonton soup, pork spare ribs rice cakes, pineapple buns, sesame balls, egg tarts, fresh fried garlic crab, beef chow fun, salt and pepper chicken, and custard pineapple buns. Even the hot and sour soup is so good customers buy extra to take home. The service is friendly, very fast, and has significantly improved. Many dim sum carts move fresh dim sum around the tables, and most workers speak English. The dining room is a little dated, and the qualities of the dim sum are okay but nothing stands out. However, prices are quite reasonable. For an authentic dim sum spot in Sacramento, this is the place.
