Dobson's Bar & Restaurant Reviews
Great entertainment specially Saturdays.
Love this place great place to have a drink 🥃 or dinner!!
Dobson's Bar & Restaurant is located near the Civic Theatre and is known for its cozy, old-school atmosphere, classic American menu, signature mussel bisque and late-night dining. When other places are closed, Dobson's is still open. The restaurant is relatively small and intimate, making it a nice spot before or after an event or show downtown. Dobson's Bar & Restaurant is a popular spot for celebrations and casual gatherings, located near downtown theaters with an old San Diego feel and charm. The restaurant offers a lively atmosphere, with live music on weekends and a pleasant experience for couples thanks to its half-booth seating option. Customers appreciate the friendly and attentive service, as well as the convenient location close to the opera and Balboa Theatre. The menu features a nice selection of dishes, including the beloved mussel bisque, which has a lovely presentation that matches its delicate flavor. The food is consistently good, with standout dishes like the Chicken Marsala, Chilean Sea Bass, and tiramisu. Many diners enjoy the fresh and tasty food, though some find that the upstairs can be quite hot, with temperatures reaching 81 degrees, making it less comfortable during meals. The wine list is accessed via an iPad, which some find not very user friendly; a paper menu might improve the experience. Customers also note the great happy hour, with a later start time than many other places. Despite minor issues like occasional overcooked steak or tough pork chop, Dobson's remains a solid choice for a night out, offering a lively setting and a range of dining options at reasonable prices.
