Kiiro Sushi Izakaya is highly regarded for its fresh and flavorful sushi, making it one of the favorite sushi spots in San Diego. The restaurant offers a unique menu with standout rolls like the 12 piece chefs special, Party Rock with Rock Shrimp, All Star, and Kamikaze Roll with shishito peppers. Many reviewers praise the quality of the fish, especially the Kiiro Yellowtail Belly Nigiri, which melts in the mouth, and the Classic Tuna Roll, noted for its freshness and simplicity. The oysters are large, flavorful, and served with lemon, adding to the exceptional dining experience.
The service at Kiiro Sushi Izakaya is consistently attentive and friendly, with staff members being helpful and considerate. One server was specifically praised for being amazing and engaging with guests. However, some comments mention that the timing of food delivery could be improved, as oysters and edamame sometimes arrive after the sushi. The atmosphere is described as clean and spacious, creating a pleasant environment for dining.
While most reviews highlight the excellent quality of the food and service, a minor downside was a slight bad smell upon entering the restaurant, possibly related to the environment. The tempura was occasionally undercooked and doughy, but other dishes like eel roll were highly praised. Overall, Kiiro Sushi Izakaya delivers a fantastic sushi experience with fresh ingredients, unique rolls, and attentive service, making it a top choice for sushi lovers in San Diego.
