About Marta

Marta is a cute, simple yet modern cafe with a lovely bright and open space and a beautiful, calm environment. It has family-owned charm and a welcoming vibe that fits a chat with friends, working on a laptop, or reading a book. The service is quick, efficient, kind, and attentive, with friendly staff and nice baristas.

The coffee is good, featuring good espresso and good specialty drinks like the amazing piloncillo latte. Some find the drink quality a little pricey, however, as with an iced chai latte that was mostly ice. The star of the show are the pastries, which all look delicious and are great house-made fresh baked goods. Specific items include the unique chicken mole croissant, the excellent passionfruit and chocolate cookie, the jalapeño cheddar biscuit, conchas, and the rosca de reyes, which is a favorite in San Diego. The newly introduced Al pastor lox toast is also delicious. The menu is limited and straightforward, and some would love to see more food items.

The cafe has plenty of seating inside and outside, though seating fills up very quickly. The outdoor seating area could use a little more sprucing up. It is considered one of the best coffee shops in San Diego, the best spot on Adams or in the North Park area, and a place customers will definitely return to often.
