A hidden gem in this area! Excellent and authentic vietnamese food, huge portions, and it's located in a cute little area in the bario by bars and the Northgate market. They also have kids meals and really good coffee.

Pho Bo is a Vietnamese restaurant located in San Diego, run by a Vietnamese family. The pho broth is a highlight, being incredibly flavorful and surprising customers with its quality. The well-done steak in the pho is notably tender and fresh, with some reviews praising the high meat quality and generous portions, often more meat than noodles. The rice noodles are average, but the food is always fantastic quality. Service is fast and friendly, though some staff members can be rushed and inattentive, leading to longer wait times. The menu offers a great selection, with prices around $15 for a bowl of pho, although some larger bowls are priced at $20. The chicken gyoza is a decent side dish, and the vegetarian pho is also popular. Vietnamese coffee is served and praised. On chilly days, the pho is especially comforting, and adding chili oil can make it spicy. The restaurant has a nice ambiance and is easy to find near public transportation, close to Downtown Gaslamp and the convention center. While there might be noise from nearby construction, the seating remains generally pleasant. During lunch and dinner, the restaurant is busy with a high volume of customers. Free 2-hour parking is available, making it convenient for diners.
