Smitty's Taste Of The Bayou Reviews
Absolutely LOVE LOVE this place! I came all the way from Houston to visit family in Rayville and will forever stop at Smittys! Great Food and Great Service!
I love this place, they’re always consistent and everything is fresh. I usually get the fried fish, collard greens and mac & cheese. I always get a sliced lemon with my plate, that small addition is really the chef’s kiss. That fish is seasoned and fried to perfection and they use the GOOD cheese on the mac & cheese ?
The first time I came it was perfect. I order the catfish dinner with Mac & cheese and collard greens. Every time since the 1st time has been a disappointment. The catfish is so rubbery it’s not edible. It’s like leftover fish that was left in a microwave an extra minute too long. It’s been 3 times now so so I know it’s not just a fluke. Won’t be returning. It’s too expensive for only the sides to be edible.
Smitty's Taste Of The Bayou is a restaurant that offers soul food, particularly popular among those from the East Coast and the South. The catfish is a standout dish, being flavorful and seasoned to perfection. The collard greens and fries are also worth trying, although the collard greens might be a bit too salty for some. The restaurant serves a delicious Mac and cheese that tastes like it was made right at home, although it was not available during some reviewers' visits. Guests can also enjoy a Catfish Po Boy, which has been described as a taste of New Orleans in San Diego. The restaurant is situated inside multiple other businesses, making it a bit secluded but still worth seeking out. It is known for its fresh ingredients and consistent quality, making each visit enjoyable. Customers can expect to order at the counter and pick up their food there, although busy times may lead to longer waits. Street parking is available nearby.
