Always swift and attentive service. The food is prepared with care and pride which can be hard to find in SF right now. Its not your fancy diner and it doesn't need to be. The focus is on the food and the quality is much better than some more expensive diners in the City.

I had breakfast just once here in July 2026, ordering an omelet with potatoes. The meal was tasty and filling. The price was reasonable given the central SF location. The service was good. The plate and cutlery were very clean, as was the dining area.I didn't check out the kitchen or restroom. Homeless people would stop and look into the dining area through the big front picture window on the sidewalk, but I took that as part of the local ambience. Local Diner offers very friendly service and excellent food. The delicious tacos (carnitas) and the waffle with fruit are exceptional. The birria tacos are amazing, homemade, and the best ones ever. The waffle with eggs is super delicious and comes out quick, with perfectly cooked over easy eggs. The hashbrown are perfectly crispy, bacon is perfectly rendered, and the biscuts and gravy are as awesome as comfort food. The menu has many options, including a favorite dish of spaghetti with soft toasted buttered bread and a flavorful sauce. The staff are super friendly, helpful, kind, and thoughtful. The atmosphere is peaceful and clean. They offer call to order ahead for easy pickup and have Apple Pay available.
