My family used to eat here and at Alioto's every month in the 60's. Alioto's is out of business. Their food, especially the bread, was the same for 60 years. Sabella's it's pretty much the same and the food is very good though it is expensive to eat in this more touristy area. It's much better to eat in a restaurant like Sabella's with a high prices rather than a tourist trap with bad food and high prices. You can't escape the prices in...
The clam chowder was a little lite on clams, but the snapper was excellent. Also got the lobster ravioli which was great and had chunks of lobster in the sauce too. Service was attentive. The downfall with this spot is the strong smell of Fabulouso cleaner drifting out of the restrooms into the dining area. If I go back I'd try to sit outside.
We haven't been here for quite some time due to conditions in and around San Francisco. Had to take my wife to Stanford for a consultation and decided to go to Fishermans Wharf for a bite to eat. We have been eating at Sabella & La Torre for 30+ years. My wife had a seafood louie and I had the crab louie. They were great. The sourdough was excellent as always. Can't wait to return for some crab chopino.
