Rica Panaderia is as good as it gets in San Jose when it comes to authentic and tasty Mexican sweet bread. The shop was well stocked with every type of Mexican pan you can think of and want. Of course the conchas are good and bigger than average. There was one even as big as my wife’s head. A family of four would have leftovers.

Rica Panaderia is a well-kept and clean establishment with ample parking in the plaza. The bakery offers an impressive selection of pan dulce and cakes. While the food can be hit or miss, with some dishes, like the Hawaiian torta, falling short, others, like the jalapeño tamale and asada torta, are phenomenal. The staff is amicable and quick to serve. Knowledge of basic Spanish may be helpful when ordering. Overall, Rica Panaderia is a great option for a quick bite, especially for those in the area.
