Bear's Hideaway Wine Bar • $$
402 Third St, San Juan Bautista

“I love this place. Not too many places to just lounge in San Juan. But this place is the best. Beautifully curated grounds to enjoy. Lori is the sweetest and you can not say anything bad about her or her establishment because she gives you 100% of herself. She is a woman-owned and operated business and that itself is tough in this environment. There are also two lovely animals to greet you and how I love shop animals! They give a real touch of humanity to any establishment. The selection of wine and beer is fantastic. She's always switching it up. So never a dull tasting experience. I took my father here and with his tough discerning option, he totally enjoyed himself. We left with big smiles! You will too.“

“A great place for drinks in San Juan Bautista! Beer, wine, and alcoholic slushies! Some cool indoor seating with window bar seating makes for fun people watching, and a sweet beer garden with ample seating - if you're lucky, there will be some live entertainment and dancing! Beer and wine list are diverse and have something for everyone. They have a charcuterie board that is well worth the money and plentiful. Prices are not overinflated. And service is uncompromising in this family owned and operated establishment. Whether taking a break from antiquing, passing though, or as a destination, 18th Barrel will not disappoint. Good vibes, good beer, and always a great time!“

“We went for wine tasting, food and live band and everything was great. The wine was good. We really liked the variety of food and the live band was fun. They sang some oldies and their repertoire was all over the place so we heard a bit of everything. The owner of the establishment was super friendly and just made the whole thing more enjoyable. We will be back :-)“

“Decided to try this place out since we were in the area and craving aguachile. We were seated right away and found parking right in front of the restaurant. We were given chips & salsa as soon as we sat down. They were both good, but some of the chips were a bit stale. The service definitely could have been better. It took about 15 minutes for our server to bring us waters and ask if we'd like anything else to drink. So we were ready to order by the time he did. But once we ordered, the food came out super quickly. I tried their aguachile verde which was very good! The portion was bigger than expected as well. We also tried their asada fries which were delicious! I loved the fries and the asada was so good! I definitely recommend this place! That also have an outside patio, but we decided to sit inside as it was rainy the day we went.“
