“OMG - so happy to have just discovered this on a recent trip to SLO. This will be our go to brewery when we come up in the area. Not only is the beer phenomenal but also the food and the service. I discovered some of my favorite types of beer that no one in Southern California is brewing English ESB, Bock and English brown. He nailed all of these. And the hoppy otter ipa is outstanding. my husband and I took lots of crawlers home and looking forward to enjoying them. There was a really nice menu that featured several items I can eat, and being vegan, that’s not always the case. Best salsa we’ve ever had.“

Libertine Brewing Company Brewery • $$
1234 Broad St, San Luis Obispo

“Second time here, though first visit was several years ago so I had forgotten. Then I remembered I liked it. And I still do. Their specialty for their own brews is sours. And they have a really nice range of those, from berry to citrusy, salty to sweet. If you don't like sours, have no fear: They have a huge range of other beers and ales on tap. Again, a really nice range, one that favors California breweries. The food is very good, a step up from standard bar food. They have good burgers and sandwiches, of course, and various fries. But also really good salads, tater tots, and more. Pleasant open space, and very friendly, helpful waitstaff. SLO has a few other good, local brewery restaurants, including Antigua and Central Coast, but Libertine should be on your go-to list as well, and if you're a bit foodie at the top.“

“We've been meaning to check this place out for awhile and lucked out getting into town right as they opened. Tyler the server / bartender was super friendly and greeted us as he was opening up the windows. Nice little patio near the street since we had our dog, but the inside was really cozy and looks like a great place to hang out. Our toddler enjoyed the table games of jenga and connect 4. The beers were quite good, we got three tasters and one full pour of Celebration. The Box O Chocolate stout is delicious, so we ended up getting some cans to go. The celebration ale was really nice, felt perfect for the season and the fairly chilly weather. We ended up ordering another one. The food menu looks great, we only tried the street tacos, but want to come back to try more. Tacos were really nice, decent flavor on the chipotle chicken, but I hoped for a bit more kick.“

Kulturhaus Brewing Company Brewery • $$
779 Price St, Pismo Beach - 9.79 miles

“Met the boss, not sure if she was the owner but she wouldn't let me have a bad beer or sample from the same glass to insure I got the best flavor to pick from the menu. We got the pickled plate and it was actually good. Pickled veggies, fennel, cauliflower and several other offerings. I do not like beets but these I would eat again. You can even take pickling classes at this place and sounds like a lot of fun. Stop in and grab some veggies, a great brew and meet the locals. The place is primarily open to the elements so it is a little chilly in the winter months.“

Locals Taproom Brewpubs • $
90 San Miguel St, Avila Beach - 8.26 miles

“Local's Taproom is an Avila staple after just 2 months of business. Owned and operated by the previous taproom's bartenders, it fully embodies the 70's-80's surf vibe that is so needed in a small, safe environment trying to create a safe space for everyone to enjoy local brews and wines. Creating an atmosphere that is so inviting can only cause such an establishment to skyrocket to one of the hottest spots in such a small town. Although there are plenty of comfortable, vibey spots in town, Locals Taproom is a fun local atmosphere that can be enjoyed by all. Although they don't offer food, they are welcoming to the idea of inviting outside food to accompany their many local draughts (or drafts). As a pair of local owners, Local's Taproom is a must if you are visiting Pismo Beach, San Luis Obispo, or Arroyo Grande. In the summer, there is a *free* trolley that transports through Pismo, all the way through Shell Beach, as well as Avila and is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy a beverage (or three) without having to Uber or Lyft between you and your permanent or temporary summer home. 5 out of 5 in all respects that are relevant to this quaint and inviting establishment.“

“Overall a nice place to eat and have a few drinks. Very friendly service. There are lots of beers to choose from and a large variety. Not just weird IPAs. You can have brown ale, larger, white beer, Amber and blonde beers as well. I would certainly come here again. Its location is ideal being close to the 101 and the local hotels. The price is very reasonable also.“
