10 Best Craft Breweries in San Luis Obispo

Whalebird Kombucha Brewery • $
3576 Empleo St # 1, San Luis Obispo

“I found this place on Google and drove from Oceano to try their kombucha. Unfortunately, we arrived to find they have permanently closed their store. I was able to find a good selection of the product in cans at a nearby Foods for Less grocery store at a great price. It is an excellent quality kombucha.“

“OMG - so happy to have just discovered this on a recent trip to SLO. This will be our go to brewery when we come up in the area. Not only is the beer phenomenal but also the food and the service. I discovered some of my favorite types of beer that no one in Southern California is brewing English ESB, Bock and English brown. He nailed all of these. And the hoppy otter ipa is outstanding. my husband and I took lots of crawlers home and looking forward to enjoying them. There was a really nice menu that featured several items I can eat, and being vegan, that’s not always the case. Best salsa we’ve ever had.“

Humdinger Brewing Brewery •
855 Capitolio Way STE 1, San Luis Obispo

“Great addition to the Central Coast beer and music scene. They have trivia on Tues and really fun Karaoke on Thursdays. The owners are great guys and sing along often. But the hidden gem is its stage where they host awesome concerts and events. Some pretty big names like Agent Orange and the Adolescents. Huge TV’s for watching sports and located near other good beer and cider drinking spots.“

Liquid Gravity Brewing Company Brewery • $$
675 Clarion Ct, San Luis Obispo

“Wow. Laura is an amazing bingo host. This place has been one of my favorite central coast breweries for a while. Unfortunately they are not exactly in my neck of the woods, but anytime I'm out drinking and see their beer on tap I will order whatever it is. I happened to be near their SLO location tonight "Wednesday". Bingo Night!! I will now make my way to Liquid Gravity any Wednesday night I'm free. Amazing beer and wonderful host and a great time. See you next Wednesday!!!“

“Came here at around 4pm on a Thursday and was able to order at the bar right away. Not that many people there. Got a Head over Peels and a Monterrey Street. Both were good. They have indoor seating with board games available and billiards and also seating outside with corn hole.“

“We went to see Dogs in a Pile on a weekday. Nothing like seeing a show where the space was built to be a concert venue! The sound was pretty good, great airflow, the stage and lighting were immaculate. Clearly a lot of money went into building out the space and I'd say they did a pretty good job.Parking: 12 hour parking on both sides of the street.Wheelchair accessibility: No stairs in sight.“

BarrelHouse Brewing SLO - Taproom Pubs • $$

“We didn't try any of the snacks that they had available there, but did try out some of the beers that they had available. By far my favorite was the Wolf & Tan. We also enjoyed playing shuffleboard and Cards Against Humanity there as well“

Bang The Drum Brewery Brewery • $$
1150 Laurel Ln # 130, San Luis Obispo

“It's been a while since I've been here, but the few times I've gone it's been a great experience. They have their house-made pot pies which are delicious. You may want to wait for them to cool for a little while though. I'm bad at waiting for food and that comes with consequences when it's still hot. They also at the time had a hot hard cider which was really really good. They had Brass Mash playing here at the time and it was a lot of fun.“

Libertine Brewing Company Brewery • $$
1234 Broad St, San Luis Obispo

“Second time here, though first visit was several years ago so I had forgotten. Then I remembered I liked it. And I still do. Their specialty for their own brews is sours. And they have a really nice range of those, from berry to citrusy, salty to sweet. If you don't like sours, have no fear: They have a huge range of other beers and ales on tap. Again, a really nice range, one that favors California breweries. The food is very good, a step up from standard bar food. They have good burgers and sandwiches, of course, and various fries. But also really good salads, tater tots, and more. Pleasant open space, and very friendly, helpful waitstaff. SLO has a few other good, local brewery restaurants, including Antigua and Central Coast, but Libertine should be on your go-to list as well, and if you're a bit foodie at the top.“
