I love this come. Come about once a week to get my noodle soup.
Excellent food concept of simple dishes 👍. Tasty and great desserts. Lacking seating but worth trying 😉. I preferred the chicken soup base 🤩
This is definitely one of the best places to enjoy a meal in downtown San Mateo! I absolutely love the concept of being able to customize your own meal—the idea is brilliant!
I also really appreciate that they offer different spice levels. I chose the mild level, and it was absolutely perfect for my taste. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and delicious!

Based on the reviews, Tang Bar San Mateo is a pleasant hot pot spot where customers pick ingredients by the pound, and the staff makes a soup with it. The broth is delicious, and portions are generous with a lot of broth. There are lots of seafood, meat, and veggie options. Everything is steamed, and the stomach does not feel heavy after a full meal. The food is made fast, but there might be a wait for a table during rush hour. The atmosphere is flashy and modern. The restaurant offers a variety of both soup and stir fried options, including seschzwan spicy hot pot and sweet and spicy stir fry. The ingredients look fresh and are restocked often. The self-service sweets bar was a wonderful addition, and the complimentary ice tea was delicious. However, the dessert bar was underwhelming. The price is slightly steep, and plates can become expensive quickly. Sometimes the wait is long, and the mala tang can come out with ingredients overcooked.
