Rich and spicy salteñas, sweet dough like potosinas. They have hot API and cheese empanadas. Sundays they have llauchas. Be careful, they only accept cash, they don't have a bathroom and the place is very run down.
La Rancherita was recommended to me by the other Bolivian at work. I happily had teh occasion to be in the rea and swung by to order their saltenas. I was impressed. They reminded me of Bolivia. Some saltenas, like at Pao's in Van Nuys, do not remind me of Bolivia. These tasted just like the ones I remember from my dad's hometown. I married into a Bolivian family, and we come here for one thing and one thing only, saltenas. I had never heard of a saltena before. Once I had my first one I was hooked. We used to split getting our saltena fix from Beba's and her, but the past two years we strictly have come to the La Rancherita. These are always delicious, hot and never disappoint.
