About California Bakery & Cafe

California Bakery & Cafe is a popular spot for many, offering breakfast sandwiches, cakes, juices, and delicious donuts, with the old-fashioned glaze being a favorite. The tamales are moist and flavorful, and the breakfast Turkey sandwich is tasty, although a bit pricey. Customers often praise the friendly staff and the option to pre-order custom letter donuts. The shop has a cozy, mom-and-pop vibe, making it feel welcoming and homey. The donuts are especially well-liked, with many calling them truly yummy and some describing the chocolate covered and egg sandwiches as double yummy—especially the chorizo breakfast croissant. The bakery also serves fresh squeezed lemonade with chi, adding to the variety.

The staff is patient and friendly, and the owner’s kindness is appreciated, especially when they generously broke a warm, freshly glazed old-fashioned donut in half for a customer, which was described as the best donut ever. The tamales are homemade, authentic, and moist, tasting just like mom’s or grandma’s. Even late at night, the bakery remains open, providing a cozy atmosphere with tables full of happy customers. The baked goods, including the donuts and tamales, stay soft and fresh even the next day, making this bakery a must-stop in California. Despite the prices, the high quality of the food and the welcoming environment keep people coming back to this local SCV bakery.
