“I hadn’t been to J&J Bakery since they had changed ownership from Sanitary Bakery. After figuring out Starbucks coffee across the street prompts me stomach issues, I decided to give J&J Bakery a visit. Today, I got their coffee, cream, and sugar. I was impressed by the flavor and freshness of the coffee. Additionally I got me a sugar twist, an apple turnover, and a brownie. I took a bite of each before writing this review and they all taste better than anything I’ve had at Starbucks. It’s sad that by virtue of habit we go to corporation chain stores and never give the local moms and pops store a chance.I recommend this bakery for its coffee and pastries. Give it a shot instead of Starbucks. You won’t be disappointed.“

“I loved that they have parking in the back because that’s a huge deal in SF. Their flavors are very unique, I tried the Thai tea which was amazing as was the espresso toffee crunch. My wife really liked their chocolate caramel crunch flavor too. I was excited to try their ube but unfortunately I sampled it and tasted pretty much no ube flavor it was just purple lol. But I’d def recommend Mitchell’s for anybody that wants good ice cream in the area or wants to switch up from the usual flavors“

“Of course Black Jet has amazing pastries and food, but what I really want to highlight are their cakes to order! I ordered my partner’s birthday cake from them (the Boston Cream Pie flavor) and it was incredible. I also recently ordered their heart-shaped Devil’s Food Cake for my best friend’s engagement party, and it was perfect! Everyone has loved the cakes both times. Both cakes were beautifully decorated, fun, and absolutely delicious. I highly recommend ordering cakes from Black Jet for any occasion. Thank you, Black Jet! 🙏🏾“

Tina, the owner is amazing at what she does and puts much so effort into her work. I can’t pinpoint a specific dessert because they can whip up just about anything. My favorite in particular is Tina’s delicious red velvet cupcakes. The treats are tasty and made with love. More than that, Tina provides superior customer service. Tina’s staff at the UC Berkeley location is always going above and beyond to make sure that everything is perfect and with a smile. “This place is a hole in the wall. We ordered a slice of the following: matcha slice cake, tiramisu slice cake and black sesame slice cake. Omg. Their slice cake is a bit expensive but it so worth it. My favorite is the black sesame cake. My sister in law was the matcha cake. We had to order a cake for a birthday so guess what we ordered?“

“You definitely need to know what order here:
Egg tarts and BBQ pork buns are made fresh in the morning and honestly quite the hidden gem here. I'm an egg tart connoisseur, and for a hole in the wall in the Mission, it actually is one of the better egg tarts in SF, in fact, the peninsula. (Try to buy them earlier in the day though).

Many of the other items are a gamble though; many of the cakes don't seem fresh. It's probably best to ask the employees when each thing was baked.“
