“very cute dessert shop in a bustling area! me and my friends went in for the crepe cakes and drinks and it was a nice place to sit down and talk to friends. i will say that their prices are a bit on the pricy end for crepe cakes ($12 for one piece), but ended up being more filling than we expected
for our drinks, we recommend the passionfruit refresher the most. it zaps you a bit with it’s fizziness and is tasty. the pineapple guava paradise was okay, and we didn’t really like the thai tea w/ lemonade.
for cakes, we recommend the pandan coconut mille crepe cake. very flavorful and yummy! the tiramisu is standard tiramisu and i had looked forward to the earl grey, but it was the least flavorful of them all and very light in flavor.
the atmosphere is very nice as you can be seated near the window, inside, or at their outside garden & it’s nice for pictures! overall, would recommend but would probably try out some other cafes next time“

“Crumbl cookies are famously large and incredibly sweet. While many of their flavors are enticing, I'd love to see some less sweet options introduced to balance the richness.
Peanut Butter Crisp featuring Butterfinger (4.5/5): This cookie delivered on its promise with a great peanut butter flavor and a satisfying crunch from the Butterfinger pieces. A truly enjoyable fusion.
Cake Batter (4/5): This was less a cookie and more a mini cake! The confetti cookie base was delightful, and the cream cheese-like frosting added a nice touch, but it was exceptionally sweet.“

“Toy Boat not only has delicious ice cream and a grand selection of Jane products, and an excellent cup of coffee; they are also incredibly cute and welcoming! The perfect place to bring the family!“
“Coming back again and still not disappointed.
I saw on the shop’s Instagram that they have a new menu item: salted egg custard crepe served with strawberries, whipped cream, and vanilla ice cream but I changed Thai tea ice cream. The flavor is rich and perfectly balanced. The staff are friendly and provide great service. It’s a small café with a very warm and cozy atmosphere.“

“This shop has delighted me since it opened about 5 years back. The very hospitable and fun-loving owner really knows his customers and is constantly finding new ways to delight them with Turkish Delight (how appropriate) and next-level baklava. This is variety and quality you won’t find elsewhere in the Bay! Enjoy all the goodies in this charming one-of-a-kind space with a cardamom coffee or Greek lavender tea.“

“This place doesn’t look like a place trying to impress anyone. It looks like a shop that has been doing one thing long enough to know what shortcuts ruin. The counter is small, the room unadorned, the kind of space where quality hides in plain sight because the people making it assume you’ll figure it out on your own.
Cannoli demand precision. If the shell softens, you failed. If the filling weeps, you rushed. If the ricotta is grainy or heavy or over-sugared, you didn’t understand its behavior under temperature and time. Romolo’s gets all of this right.
The shells are made the way people make things they intend to stand behind. Not brittle, not oily, not collapsing under pressure. They have that snap you only get when dough has been rolled to the correct thickness and fried at the right temperature, long enough to blister but not blister apart. You can tell someone here still listens to the sound of the shell when it cools.
The filling is clean, balanced, and confident. No perfumed overcompensation. No reckless sweetness meant to distract from inferior ricotta. This is filling made by people who understand ratio and restraint. The texture stays smooth because the ricotta was drained properly, not hurried. There’s discipline in that step alone. Most places skip it. Romolo’s doesn’t.
What impressed me most is how the cannoli hold structure on the way home. Ricotta interacts with pastry the way moisture interacts with almost anything that should remain crisp: it wants to weaken it. But Romolo’s fills to order, and they fill with judgment. Enough to satisfy, not enough to compromise the shell before you get to experience the contrast that makes cannoli worth eating in the first place.
The people behind the counter treat you the way good shops do. Direct, warm in a grounded way, the kind of friendliness that seems rooted in pride more than choreography. They hand over the box carefully, as if they know what they made can survive the trip but also know that respect is part of the craft.
This place doesn’t rely on nostalgia or theatrics. It relies on technique. On the quiet confidence of a place that has figured out what works and kept doing it. You taste repetition, patience, and the refusal to let a simple dessert become sloppy.
If you want a cannoli that proves why the thing exists at all, this is the place“

“Been coming since they first open and I know and read it’s hit or miss on service depends on the day and person working but for my years of experience I’ve always enjoyed it. As long they get the usual food I order right and on time, on top of that food and dessert is good than this place is a four star for me. They don’t need to check on us or serve us like kings or queens because it’s a Hong Kong dessert house people. It’s not Gary danko with a $$$$ sign. The price is good. I usually get the egg puff which is better than all egg puff location even eggette. The HK milk tea is good but not as good as honk kong, fried garlic chicken wings, soy sauce wings, ham egg sandwich and mix fruits. Oh their green tea ice cream is a no no but vanilla is fine. They use the same batter for the waffle as the egg puff which is so yummy! Moving on that’s my usual order which has kept me going here for years. Wish they open earlier but I know they cater to the late people.“

“BEST MONGONADAS IN THE BAY!!! Very clean establishment and super friendly staff.“
“I've been been around this part of San Mateo for a every long time to see a lot of restaurants open and close. Including yogurt shops. But I think this one is a pretty solid shop. They have delicious ice cream that does not taste ultra processed and the donuts although a little pricey compared to the other side of town (if you know, you know) are fluffy and not too sweet which is in fact how a California donut should taste. Service was quick and easy.“

“Creamy and flavorful. Used the app Too Good To Go to try out a surprise variety of cheesecakes from Nash Cakes, which I had been eyeing for a while. They were pretty cold when I got them so I let them sit out for 20 minutes before digging in. This really helped bring out their flavors and prevent any crumbling of the cheesecake when piercing through them with a fork. I tried the Traditional, Candy Cap and Lemon Poppy. All three were delicious. It’s hard to really rank them since they all had their own unique flavors. If I had to though, the Traditional would be #1 and then Candy Cap and Lemon Poppy come in at 2nd together. Just depends on what you’re in the mood for. Candy Cap being warm with maple notes, Lemon Poppy being fresh with light creamy citrus notes.“

“Sweet moment is some of the best desert I've had.
First of all, I LOVE their snowflake series and egg puff. Everything there is so amazing, and everything comes so quickly. Like the name says, it's sweet, and wonderful. The drinks are also so good, and I love the handmade momoko ball and grass jelly toppings. Something else so good about it is that there are so many other good places around it, which means you can get a good lunch and then come right to it. There is also a movie theatre, (Cinemark), quite close to it. It is a little far from my house, but it's definitely worth coming. It fills me up all the time, and is totally my type of desert. At the time of this review there is a little leak in the roof, but that's fine and they've got that under control. There is no doubt that this is one of my favorite places, and it deserves more than five stars.“
“We did a five-course, intimate, dessert tasting at Bellaria. Every item was hand-crafted, thoughtful, innovative, and delicious. It started off with savory bites before moving into the main attractions. Our party absolutely loved the Mandarin and White Tea dish with seabuckthorn and tonka. The Pear Tatin Roulade and Souffle Bread Pudding were expertly crafted and technically impressive. The Chocolate dish at the end was the perfect bite to end the meal. And everything (besides the caviar) was vegan!I can't wait to see what else comes out of this innovative dessert studio. The space is small so you'll have to sign up in advance for the tasting, but it makes it intimate and homey. It makes a great date night!“
“The turnaround on my order was much quicker than expected. I got a half dozen of the peach cobbler cupcakes in gluten free & vegan & they were delicious! I can’t believe how moist & rich the flavors were. I will order again soon“

“Cute little shop, super decorated with murals with HK streets vibes. Super long, authentic Chinese menu for both dessert and street eats like noodles and rice platters. Also has basic american dessert like cheesecake. Got their grass jelly fruit bowl, a bit small for 2 to share but the others like banana split or sweet crepe is a lot.

“Love this place, been coming here for 6 years now. My favorites are the glutinous rice balls in mango juice w/mixed fruits and the sesame paste with glutinous rice balls. I bring all my friends here, and my little sisters ask me to bring them here any time they visit SF. There's something on the menu for everyone and prices are reasonable, more affordable than Kowloon. Service is ok, what you can expect from a Hong Kong cafe. There is an area to self-serve nice hot tea or ice water.“

“Cute open seating area. The couch was comfy though a bit low. Utensils were cute. Shaved ice was well made with extra sauce in the center and on the side. Roti was delicious though a bit over fried for me. Thai tea sauce is delicious
New savory menu items. Nuggets were okay.
Peach soda tastes a bit too much like canned peaches.
Mango shaved ice still best after trying piña colada and strawberry.“

“We are visiting from Las Vegas and this place hit the spot after dinner. Not to mention it was conveniently located near our hotel.
The woman who helped us was extremely friendly and her customer service skills were through the roof! Rare find in today's society.
We only ordered two this visit - the Confetti Deluxe and Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Deluxe. The confetti cookie was my personal favorite - it was similar to a sugar cookie.
In addition to cookies, they also offer other treats, ice cream, and to-go drinks.
The store itself was bright and clean. It is small and definitely a grab-and-go type of place.“

“My favorite dessert spot ever. You will have to see the amount of points in my reward account to understand my love for this store. Whenever I walked in the store, the coconut milk fragrance brought me right back to Vietnam. Chè is my fav dessert, so I am so happy that this store make chè in a pretty authentic way to make me feel less homesick.
This exact Bambu in Milbrae is my fav. I think they make the dessert better than the other location near Stonestown Galleria in SF. My go-to order is number 10 Bambu Special or something like that. The chewy pandan jelly and the red water chestnut jelly in number 10 is the best combo 🤤🤤“
