1960.... Dad received a position at the bakery when we moved to the States. Everyone there spoke German. As a little, we'd visit, I was so shy I hid behind dad. We always stopped in the office and my brother and I were given paper bakery hats to wear. The owners, the Wedemeyers and staff were so friendly. My favorite sandwich shop (Grubbin on Taraval St. in San Francisco) uses Wedemeyer Dutch Crunch bread and it is so flavorful, soft and crunchy on top! I moved an hour away and I still drive to SF for it.
